Since the crazy neo-confederates continuing hounding about their banner of the lost cause, maybe it would not be a bad idea to position rather large statues of General Sherman in all areas where the reb flag is still flying on public property :)
In that Sherman helped bring the carnage to an end, he did more for SC than the silly secessionists who started the conflict. As such, he does deseve a statue in Columbia.
Starting with Calhoun, no 19th century group was more out of touch with reality than the SC elite. Too bad for them they couldn't fight a war as well as they could make a sneak attack on an unsuspecting senator.
