Update on Zac's Mom-Vanity

I received an update on Zac's mom this AM as follows:

Well we have now been through 1 iron infusion and 4 full blown chemo treatments. In some ways ZM seems to be getting stronger, but depression is setting in as her hair, eyebrows and eye lashes begin to fall out on their own. The oncology folks are surprised that she has not lost more of her hair already, tell us that by the end of the second or third week of treatment most have already gone bald.

She seems to be gaining some strength and her blood counts have not taken the nose dive we had expected so we are encouraged. We actually had a shopping outing on Saturday (about 2.5 hours including travel) and she was basically asleep on the trip home. Still requires oxygen at all times and tires really quickly.

So, we'll continue to go to Chemo every Friday until 8/25 then get a new scan and find out where we are. Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts! They seem to be working.

Hard to figure sometimes which is worse. The Disease or the Cure. I wish you all the luck in the world. I dont think there is anyone alive over the age of 12 who hasnt seen a loved one go thru this.

As one who went through chemo, you might give Zach's mom a hint. I found the thought of seeing big clumps of hair fall out depressing, so I went ahead and shaved my head. It gave me a sense of taking charge, instead of being a "victim" of the chemo.
