A robber tried to get money from an 84-year-old man in Greensboro Monday morning. The robber had a gun. Robert Flynn only had a cane to defend himself. Flynn and his cane won the skirmish. Police say the robber used his car to corner in Flynn, revealed a 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun and demanded money. Flynn raised his cane and beat the robber. The robber drove away with nothing.

Lucky he didn't get shot. Still, a happy ending.

Considering that the bad guy had a 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun, it turned out well.
The old man was very lucky to have survived bringing a cane to gun fight.

The robber should stick to robbing pacifists.

When you're a robber armed with a 12-gauge, and you're getting beaten on and chased away by eighty-somethings with metal quad-canes, it's probably time to quit and get a real, honest job.

How long before the criminal rights groups, aka democratic party, demand canes be taken out of the hands of citizens?

Given the outcome, I'm going to take a couple guesses
  1. 'Robber' probably a 'rookie'. As a 12ga. ain't exactly the weapon of choice for stickups.
  2. No ammo in the shotgun. 'Robber' figured he could just scare the old guy.
  3. 'Robber' NOT a MENSA member

Maybe the robber was using the gun to intimidate, but had the sense not to risk death row or 20-life for a few hundred dollars.

4. The old guy had Alziemers and didn't see the gun, and wouldn't have known what it was if he had seen it.
