US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice salutes a US Marine as she walks towards a helicopter upon her departure from Beirut after meeting with Lebanese officials.
Simple respect...
Most analysts believe that Hizbullah is stronger than the Syrian Army and the Syrian Army would not stand a chance against the IDF.
This is comparing apples and oranges, the IDF would tear up both organizations given the latitude to do so. But the Syrian Army could make life substantially more uncomfortable than Hizbullah ever could. Those Kaytushas are pesky, but Syrian long range arty batteries could target northern israeli communites in the Metula, Dan, Kirat Shoma area and put a lot more steel on target. Similarly, their long range missiles have a lot bigger warheads (even wmd equipped) and are much more accurate and can cover more of Israel than Hizbullah's arsenal.
Simply put, If Syria attacks and fails, the leadership has nowhere to run these days...
They are surrounded by enemy, or western-friendly countries (turky and Jordan) who would know the benefits of handing them over...
They may bluster to meet the expectations of thier Iranian moeny-lenders, but that's about it, I believe....
Remember, you are only seeing SMALL parts of the ISraeli military, and they have a knack for calling up and moving large units quietly....
Can you elaborate on this b/c everything i've heard and read says they can't call up huge reserves quietly given how small israel is
Nisrallah to speak soon.
If Iran can hit Israeli nuclear facilities, it doesn't really matter if they have a nuke or not.
I think Iran got bold because they face a no-win situation. They saw us do the Taliban, and Saddam, and know they are next. They are already setting up to ration gasoline, and there is a UNSC Resolution pending that could easily block imports of refined distillates, as well as seize foreign assets.
When you look at it from the position that the Mullahs think they have little to lose, all of this makes a lot more sense.
ACC to UNFIL, IDF Attacked one of their offices, there are a number of fatalities and casualties
WTG Isreal!
FOX News reporting Hiz'b'Allah leader Abu Jaffar killed.
Israel has called up DIVISIONS, yet is only making incursions in supported BATTALLION strength, so far...
All those troops are SOMEWHERE, and we won't really know until they hit the roads.....
I wonder if there were Hizbollah in those offices?
Yea, but a run from Metula to the Litani would cut off the Bekka from Southern Lebanon, which will make life sorely difficult for those rocket units in Southern Lebanon as far as resupply goes
Jaffar killed.
bttt
Please, share with me (us) your opinion...
CNN reports 4 UNIFIL soldiers dead from IAF airstrike.
