Questionable books (Minuteman-Simcox)
The Washington Times ^ | July 25, 2006 | Staff

As supporters of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, we were disheartened to read Jerry Seper's front-page article Thursday about questions and criticisms of President Chris Simcox's management of the organization. According to the article, the volunteer group has not made any financial statements or fundraising records public since April 2005 -- circumstances that have strained relations between Mr. Simcox and several of his top employees, some of whom have resigned in protest.

Mr. Simcox must resolve these problems quickly. Failure to do so would only encourage the organization's critics -- who have made no secret of their desire to see the Minuteman volunteers arrested for vigilantism. But more importantly, according to Mr. Simcox's estimate, Americans have donated $1.6 million to the corps because they believe in their mission to secure the southern border. In return, the least they should expect is transparency and the assurance that their donations went to help the volunteers in the field. But the truth is that no one except Mr. Simcox knows how much money has been donated and what it has been used for.

So far, Mr. Simcox has been unable to come up with a good explanation -- at least one that can be independently verified. And while he insists the money went to help field operations, workers at these locations tell a different story. For instance, Vern Kilburn, who resigned earlier this year as director of operations for the organization's northern Texas sector, told The Washington Times that only two checks for $1,000 came from Minuteman headquarters in October and that other directors across the country "are having similar problems." Some volunteers said that money promised by Mr. Simcox for food and supplies never arrived. "An awful lot of equipment I saw was donated," said Mike Gaddy,...."

LOL. President Reagan campaigned on a platform that included ending welfare fraud. He was all for exposing people who were trying to take the easy route.

You're surrounded by open borders lobbyists, idiots who just discovered how to use Google but don't know how to interpret what it turns up, liberals, bitter flakes whose feelings got hurt somewhere back down the road and can't get over it, and people who decided they'd rather be liked than be "right".

You are one sick dude. For not the first time, I advise you to seek help.

For a person who claims to represent national candidates, you are just shamelessly petty. I picture you spitting on your monitor when you posted that.

BTW, those "idiots" figured out enough about Google to expose you for the pathetic creature you are, didn't they?

Frauds who were caught out were tarred-and-feathered and run out of town on a rail in the old days, were they not?

Shall I start the pots a-boiling?

Certain influential members of the conservative media are now looking into the matter.

You've ALREADY got a credibility problem as it is.

Maybe you shouldn't be so elusive when someone asks you a question. That might be a place to start.

meanwhile, I'll continue to question everything, be it conservative or liberal, when they REFUSE to answer questions and try to avoid showing any proof.

And I'm sure you'll continue to shill for whatever cause you want too, all the while completely obvious to the amount of damage you are doing to that cause.

LOL. She was quite a supporter and advocate of Simcox and his project last year and this, even when these concerns had already surfaced in some circles. Her support probably helped raise money for him.

But--there is plenty of room on the bandwagon now, so welcome aboard Michelle Malkin!

I've known Tom (EV) for several years. Although I can't vouch for the many of the members involved with Keyes, I can say that I believe Tom is one of the most sincere fellows I've met. We disagree on things sometimes and often he can be vexing in his blind support of subjects I find disturbing, I can say that he is what you see.

I can't say the same for others involved in this controversy but I can about Tom. You may not like what he says but I find him without perversions.

That is a rarity in politics these days. I pray that someday he he can remove the blinders and see things for what they are.

That may all be true but FR is made up of ordinary folks who are for the most part well meaning loyal conservatives. They are not political operatives just folks. It should be public knowledge if people that are paid political operatives are posting to advance a candidate or cause. EV is known to be such an individual. His only activity on FR is to accuse ordinary freepers of being closet liberals when his candidates or causes are questioned. I have seen him hit the abuse button on too many good people when he has run out of insults. You may think he is sincere but I have interacted with him for over 5 years and I would dispute that.

I'm not going to defend EV's actions, I stopped doing that a long time ago...with anyone connected to Keyes.

All I'm telling you is that I believe him to be sincere, whether you agree with his positions or not.

I can't say that about 98% of the people I've met in Washington where everybody works for somebody and they're all paid to tow the party line.

If he doesn't know, he can say so. There's no shame in not knowing, only foolish pride.

Until he does, or until Simcox comes clean, then the heat is on, as it must be.

I'm pretty sure his goal is always to increase name recognition so that donations increase, but not necessarily to win elections or accomplish any of the stated "goals".

The donations are the goal.

If the quixotic campaigns lower public opinions of conservatives in general, or make people think the "far right" is insane, what do these people care, as long as they have a certain number of gullible marks who are willing to send money?

It's the same 10 or so of you guys on FR keeping this alive.

Self-delusion is a kind of disease. Get help.

I'm not delusional at all. It's the same dude starting every thread on this and about ten of you guys bumping it. By what I'm sure is sheer coincidence, all of y'all happen to be Bush syncophants too. Funny that.

Which of the ten of us is Michelle Malkin? Which one of us got the WashTimes editorial placed? Which of us is John Gibson?

Better yet, get out a piece of paper and number lines one to ten. Then start filling in screennames. You'd better not have more than ten. Oh, you said "about ten?" Fine, make it twelve.

Then you'll learn something about your self-delusion.

Oh, and if you're going to call someone a name (falsely), at least spell it right: It's s-y-c-o-p-h-a-n-t.
