NEWSWEEK ARTICLE [. . . an almost 'snark' free article from Newsweek -- is hell freezing over?!] . . .

BACKSTAGE AT THE CRISIS
As the world's leaders gathered, the Middle East burst into flames. How President Bush handled the biggest foreign challenge of his second term. A NEWSWEEK exclusive.
By Richard Wolffe
Newsweek

July 31, 2006 issue - The forward suite aboard Air Force One is a hushed and dimly lit space, a private sanctuary where the president can sleep, exercise and lead the free world from 30,000 feet. At the start of an eight-hour flight en route to Germany and a world summit in Russia, President Bush is deep inside his own head as he paces up and down the long hallway that leads from his study to his conference room. While Washington was sleeping the night before, yet another corner of the Middle East had erupted into violence, after Hizbullah launched a deadly ambush on an Israeli patrol. The summit, which was supposed to focus on Iran's nukes and Russia's democracy, had just been hijacked by the war on terror.

LETTING ISRAEL BE ISRAEL
Bush's consistent approach to war and peace in the Middle East.
by Fred Barnes
07/31/2006, Volume 011, Issue 43

NO ONE should have been surprised by President Bush's let-Israel-fight policy in the current Middle East conflict. Bush is consistent. The essentials of his approach to Israel and its enemies were adopted four years ago when the president ostracized then-Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and called for democracy and reform in the Arab countries. Bush's policy is pro-Israel in that it is based on his belief that Israel wants peace with its neighbors, but some of them don't want peace with Israel. So Israel stands on higher moral ground.

Photos of the President and the Vice President with the troops are always great as they love and appreciate their service and in return the troops have great respect for them. This IMHO shows in the photos.
