I have not heard from my colleagues that live in Beirut.

They may be dead but that is okay with a lot of our FR brethren.

Collateral damage.

Ughhhhh!

It's interesting how we view that whole thing differently when we've been in these countries and gotten to know the people, isn't it? Whole different perspective.

I hope your friends and colleagues in Beirut are OK.

I just lurk on these threads but that was not a nice thing to say.

Look, Lebanon is the immediate source of all this killing. That country has been the host and haven of terrorists for years. Israel completely withdrew from Lebanon and still the Lebanese have practiced and facilitated terrorism. True, not all the Lebanese are complicit but the nation is at fault. Israel has warned the civilians to evacuate those cities from whence missiles are launched. Yes, there will be civilian casualties and collateral damage. It is the fault of the terrorists, just like in Iraq, just like in Afghanistan. I hope your colleagues are innocent and leave the war zone.

I hope you hear from your friends, Rebel.

Unless I'm mistaken, when the US has diplomatic relations with another country, our citizens visiting that country are entitled to certain types of protection as US citizens, based on the treaty we have with that country, a fact seemingly too elusive for some people to grasp.

That was a nice way of saying thank you to those of us who were so concerned for your plight and who welcomed you home.

I can't believe you posted that! That is a moronic statement to make; unbelievable.

To imply that any FReeper thinks it's "okay" that your colleagues may be dead is outrageous.

You should be ashamed of yourself for thinking that.

Collateral damage. Ughhhhh!

Collateral damage happens in all war zones, and the Israeli armed forces take great pains to limit the number of innocent casualites as much as humanly possible. .....just as we Americans do.
