I am listening to John Gibson's radio show...and he had as a guest the lawyer for that group of "Americans" that are suing Condi and Rummy for not getting them out of Lebanon and sending more weapons to Israel...which could be used to harm or kill them.
I cannot even tell how ridiculous the interview was..I will say that the lawyer's main complaint is that Condi Rice didn't call for a cease fire long enough to get all of the Americans out of the country.
Oh..and BTW, his clients are in what John Gibson called "Hezbollahland" in South Lebanon.
What surprised me was this man's insistence that there was NO travel warning for Lebanon before the war started.
I could have SWORN that I had heard several news people say that there had been a travel warning from the State Dept. for YEARS...
But, after a commercial, John came back on and said that the guy was right...that there was no travel restrictions/warnings until 10 days AFTER the fighting started.
Does that sound right to you?
I'm pretty sure I read there were travel warnings in Lebanon and had been warnings for years; I think Gibson is wrong about that.
But someone with a better memory or knowledge than I have will weigh in and I'll check in later.
there was no advance warning as to when it would start - what did they expect to get, a tip from hezbollah that they were going to capture and kill those IDF soldiers?
I think the part about restrictions may well be right. I do think there were State Dept warnings before that.
Travel warnings are posted on this thread at (2004) #405 and (2000) #410, but the ones I remember were actually posted on a thread(s) about the current evacuation effort.
