I noticed the same thing about some soldiers with a brown baggy...and the only tactical thing I can think of is that it would blur the image of the soldiers silhouette from a snipers view, and provide less of a defined target...

religious dress???

"There is also reportedly a third unit, in charge of counter-intelligence operations."

One more question to add to yours:

3) Is Lebanon going to evict hezbollah?

Excellent question.
Add it to the list.

"Can anyone explain the legal and moral basis for this?
Simultaneously "nothing can be done" to pressure or prevent a bunch of nutcases in Iran from creating nuclear weapons and threatening the rest of the world, but...

Our strongest ally in the war against international terrorism is forced, errr... 'pressured', to abandon the fight for its own survival?

What's wrong with this picture?"

Everything is wrong with that picture.
The French weasels and the loony left of America are all puffed up and screeching about stopping Israel. Meanwhile, even as Iran develops nuclear weapons, the same French are busy kissing Iranian butt as they cravenly beg for Iranian contracts, and the American left keep screaming about carrying on "the diplomatic process" with Iran..

Israel must and should not stop military operations until it's military objectives are reached.
Just reaching a "peace" agreement that returns us to a Hizbullah firing rockets anytime they want status quo, is simply not acceptable.

The reporting of the Fox people in this war, led by Shepherd Smith, has left a lot to be desired.
Smith is now fancying himself as something of a Napoleon, and has overnight appointed himself a general and an expert on military tactics, after spending just over a week covering the war.
I just find it laughable listening to him spew out his "expert opinions".
Last thing anyone needs is another Geraldo.
One Geraldo is bad enough.

This unit is also believed to have an arsenal of long-range rockets - Iranian-made Fajr 5 and Zelzal missiles capable of reaching targets 200 km. away.

I would expect that the launching systems for these long-range rockets are much more sophisticated than the Katyusha launchers given the much higher accuracy required for targeting at a 200 km range. Assuming that's true I would also think that picking up and moving these systems might take longer than the 5 minutes I've heard for a Katyusha launch. If that is true (lots of ifs here) then the window of opportunity for an air strike on these long-range launching systems should be better than for the Katyushas.

Am I dreaming?

Agreed. Unless the amazingly effective (sarcasm off) Lebanese army shuts down their border with Syria then Hezbollah can get re-supplied. It won't be as easy with the IAF operating in the area but they can still get stuff in.

What I hear is that Hezbollah has PLANNED for a quick tank invasion by the IDF. As a result, there are minefields and other obstacles ALREADY IN PLACE which were designed to create huge IDF casualties.

So it doesn't bother me that the IDF is not fighting this war the way that Hezbollah hoped it would play out.

"finally had to turn Fox off this weekend"

Did the same yesterday.
Plus I was out most of the day anyways.

"......really got to the point where these reporters were just being silly....reporting smoke on a hill....sheesh....."

Yup.
I just got fed up after a while.

"MI has noticed it has run into difficulty convincing members of the terror group who reside in the north to travel south....."I guess martyrdom doesn't look so appealing afterall.Maybe they just need more time to recruit human shields?sarc.

Today, the 24th, 98 missiles landed on Israeli territory and thank God did not kill one person. One suggestion is that Israelis should hit the Becca Valley with as many bunker-busers as possible. There are probably many WMD's there from Iran, Iraq, and Syria taken over by Hez. and Hamas to be buried in those 100 ft deep bunkers.

Nothing like a "all knowing" coach potato general to "instruct/critique" the real ones.

I did NOT make a statement. I asked a question because I didn't know the answer and was seeking same from other FReepers.

In providing your answer, it's not necessary to insult the questioner, too.

"In addition, MI - reflecting its latest strategic assessment - believes that the Islamist group has already been dealt a severe blow by the IDF operation launched 12 days ago, and that within a month it will run out of Katyusha rockets to fire at Israel."
IDF needs go straight to the source, Syria, and take'em out unless they want to put blinds on and hope it won't happen again... SIGH.

No, you clearly made a statement. Here it is:

To my surprise, it appears that Israel has no intention of "crushing Hizbollah". If they had, by they would have invaded South Lebanon in force.

But then again, maybe in Ebonics or some other new fangled type of English, this is a question...

Why did the government not commit to effectively destroying Hizbollah. And, if they weren't committed, why did they start (or truncate) the operation?

Pardon my ebonics, but this does look like a question to me.

Yes, but that is not what was quoted or referred to.
