LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Miss Puerto Rico, Zuleyka Rivera Mendoza, the youngest of the five finalists, was crowned Miss Universe on Sunday night.
The first runner-up to Mendoza, 18, was Miss Japan, Kurara Chibana, 24.

You know what I found to be ironic? Many of the women from the "developed" countries appeared as if they hadn't eaten in a week. The African contestants all appeared to be quite "healthy" in contrast.

I though Miss Japan was going to win, but she gave lousy answers. At one time she answered the question in French, but the interpretor spoke Japanese not French. And her other answer did not relate to the question.
