Call me skeptical, but 16 yrs. old, and just before midnight on a saturday night and he's throwing rocks and sticks into a lake???
My take on the evening, is after he and a couple buddies were on the tail end of a case of Bud, they thought "Let's go f**k with that gator and throw some rocks at it..."

The kid will keep the full truth of what happened as a secret until the day he dies, I'm sure; and the gator certainly won't tell. :-)

Gotta agree. Gators generally eat prey that's much smaller than they are; people are too big (but not feet, hands, heads.) Crocs generally eat prey bigger than they are; hippos, buffalo, people, gators, etc.

He definitely was foolish. At a local state park near here they have a saying: "After dark only two things move out here...gators and gator food".
