Anaheim Hills here. Its been raining real hard with thunder and lightning for about an hour now. We also felt the quake. Funny, my wife mentioned yesterday that we could expect an earthquake if we had a thunderstorm.

Earthquakes and thunderstorms have absolutely nothing to do with one another. Just for the record :)

Depth: 2.8 km (1.7 miles)

It was about 10 miles from Mission Viejo, CA. That's why it felt so big.

I'm glad it was close! That means it wasn't so bad. Hopefully, no one was hurt.

Disaster Drill Preps Los Angeles For The Inevidable

"Thursday's "big event" was a catastrophic, 8.0 magnitude earthquake that cut area highways and crippled the city, leaving countless scores stranded, hungry and unruly. Electricity, natural gas and water lines were all assumed inoperable. "

Stage right enters the "end times people" to tell us about wars and rumors of wars - then earthquakes.

"Earthquakes and thunderstorms have absolutely nothing to do with one another. Just for the record :)"

For years seismologist were puzzled by sudden, random and unexplained 'squiggles' on their charts. A couple years ago it was determined that the 'squiggles' were tornados that had touched down. So...

2.0 is like a water truck hitting a bump in the road three miles away. It's down in the range of traffic noise.
