All this talk about embryos this past week gives me the creeps. Plus I heard some Senator on Laura Ingraham, wish I could remember his name, but he convinced me that fetal stem cells were not the miracle cure they are purported to be. Turns out adult stem cells and cord blood were much more promising.
Then yesterday I saw Bush introducing some children and his statement was "these children were adopted as embryos". The point being to prove those embryos were human beings or like that.
All I could think of is how on earth someone adopts embryos? Is there, like, a warehouse of embryos somewhere that one can visit and , adopt?
I mean, yeah, vaguely I understand it but my shivers came from the knowledge that somewhere in this brave new world people can actually go shopping for babies instead of making their own. I am trying to adjust to this concept.
I think Bush is right on about fetal stem cell research and I like how he's been firm and forthright about it. We really don't need to go there and further there is no reason on God's earth why our tax dollars should support such research. People seem to forget that the man is not BANNING research, just denying federal funds for it.
Are federal funds used for the "adopting" of the embryos?
President Bush also said that "these children are not spare parts." Succinctly says it all IMO.
It does of course open other ethical issues where some would even say that the women is committing a form of adultery carrying another man's baby other than her husband.
Others would say that it is a wonderful program as it avoids unwanted embryos being destroyed.
Snowflake babies
Would it not take an act of Congress, a law, to ban research on embryos?
the man is not BANNING research, just denying federal funds for it.

Yesterday's Dem radio talk was by a woman who Never mentioned the words "federal funding" in her five minute objection to the President's veto. She may have said "embryonic" once or twice.
Ramesh Ponnuru is on CSPAN2 discussing his latest book "The Party of Death" - well worth watching. I have read the book and highoy recommend it to learn reasoned "pro-life" arguments.
No No No!!
The horror of this (tinkering with what a human being IS, is a battle that transcends even the WOT, imo. There must be no "adjustment". It must be exposed and opposed.
I do not post to this subject much, but for some of the clearest and best thinking on this board, user search on Mrs Don-o. You will be glad you did.
