I've never understood why that is absolutely critical to people, but if it weren't, I guess we wouldn't have that big IVF industry today.

My husband and I have been a family since we married 20 years ago. There is nothing wrong with the headline. :)

"What you are seeing are the parents, not the children. Children, for the most part, are a reflection of the way they are raised."

So right on... My wife and I have 4 great boys, that we love spending time with. But, we prefer to not be around children in general. It’s sad that parents can’t be bother with teaching their children common courtesy, and because of that, people can’t stand to be around these poor misguided kids.

Depressing?

Hardly. I am greatful that people are thinking having children. Don't you think that our welfare rolls are high enough. I DON'T believe in abortion, but waiting until your ready is a responsible and intelligent decision. Look, I have three kids and my wife and I began at 29, 31 and 33. I can't begin to tell you how awful a father I would have been if I had began at that age of 19. Also my wife and I waited six years to begin having children. We married at 23 but wanted to ensure that everything was in line. I would not do it any other way. What difference is it if you have children at 30 or 40? I think people are too selfish when younger. BTW we are 37 now and who knows we might still have more kids. With the youngest 4 years old we are feeling that desire for kids again (especially her). My wife and I are thinking that we have at least another good 7 years or so to have more kids...

These are the same guys who have the whole "fancy car/self-worth" thing going, too.

Why is it so important to you that Hildy feel bad about her decision? :)

Hildy is entitled to live her life as she pleases; she is not entitled to support and affirmation from people that disagree with her choices.

My wife and I hope that our kids never make us old worn out grandparents...see there is some good reasons to be older parents.

I remember cleaning out the house of a friend's dead mom. In one dresser drawer we found a stash of old, old empty pill bottles. Being a nosey bastard, I asked for and received a couple of them. I took them to my GP and he was shocked at the dosages of amphetamines, some of them long discontinued, they were giving this woman back in the late 50s and early 60s. He showed them to an older doctor in the practice who said those dosages were quite normal.

Very common male trait that exists in all cultures. Thorstein Veblen had a lot to say about it. Basically it's the norm.

What does that mean?

Mine probably lies. When I bring my weight up he says he wants me to lose for health reasons but sees me just like I was 36 years ago when we got married:

This is for all women who think like you: You're in denial. He sees you like you were 36 years ago? No, he doesn't. He loves you like he did ... but that's not how he SEES you. If you loved yourself and him, you'd lose weight if you need to.

my next door neighbor, who died recently, 78 years old, was robbed, and stolen her earthly belongings by immigrant people she befriended. I tried to help her, but by the time she ended up passing on, she left her home to the indian taxi cab driver, the handi man who took her for $13,000.00 and a gay guatemalan man she took into her home. She died a pauper. I guess befitting for someone who had no children. They only befriended her for what she had.

And you are 100 percent positive that this would not happen had she had children? Get real!!! You need to wake up and smell the coffee. Kids are not always interested in the elderly later in life. I am not going to rely on my children to assist me in my elder years...how selfish for parents even to think that. Just because this women had no children does not mean that she would not have been robbed. PLUS, she died a pauper. Big deal!! Was she to put it in her coffin?

Is it just me or does anyone else see this woman as having transportation, home repairs and housekeeping?

I'm not, I am and you missed my point. There are guys that encourage and build you up and there are guys that put you down and are ashamed of you. I'm blessed. However, as the poster that was ashamed of his wife pointed out, husbandship is an elected position and they can be impeached.

There was a woman in our area who lived to be well over 100.

Good chance that if she did have children she would have outlived them...no thanks!!! I hope I go before the kids that is for sure.

Re your post 103, your neighbor did not die a pauper because she had no children (though it is likely that a son or daughter could have advised her about scams...though a good friend could have played this role), she died without assets because she had extremely poor judgment.
