A half a decade ago?! The UN Security Council passed a resolution demanding that Hezbollah disarm in 1959. Just goes to show how effective the UN is.

Ummm Hezbollah has only been around since around the late 70's early 1980's. I think you are referring to UN Resolution 1559 which was passed in 2004.

I believe that Hizbollah came into being after Jimmah Cahtah was fired and Ronald Reagan was elected. They've been kidnapping or killing Americans and Israelis for just over a quarter of a century.

RE: the UN . . . I have a picture in my head of Kofi stuttering and stammering in indignation that Israel would DARE take action before the UN had made resolution upon resolution to . . . do nothing . . . I hope that smug smile is wiped off his face.

I'm reminded of "Sometimes it's better to ask forgiveness than to ask permission." NOt that Israel had to ask permission, of course. I admire them greatly for just doing what they need to do and not waiting endlessly.
