I hate to have to say this, but here it is.
I'm afraid that the Israeli's are going to find themselves in the same kinda position in Lebanon as we ar in Iraq.
They are fighting one in the same terrorist that we are. Uniformless and hard to be distinguised between an innocent.
I wish and pray for Israel all the best, but I really think this will turn into a real mess.

I hope the IDF isn't afraid to shoot anything that moves!
If it running, it's a Hezbulla. If it's walking, it's a clever Hezbulla. If it standing still, it's a very clever Hezbulla or a UN observer.

No one ever said fighting for freedom is easy. Both America and Israel have suffered casualties in the war against Islamofascism. Still the bottom line is no country, whether Israel, or our own can be defended without some people dying for it so the rest might be able to live in a free nation. There is no way to get around it: freedom exacts a high price and you just have look in the cemeteries to see who made our safety and ability to have the choices we have possible. The soldier. Let's never forget their contribution to the defense of the liberties we all hold so near and dear.

It probably will be a mess ... considering how the "world" wants to appease terrorists but still I hope they take out as much as this cancer as possible.

I'm afraid that the Israeli's are going to find themselves in the same kinda position in Lebanon as we are in Iraq. I think Israel is not as concerned with being politically correct and will do what needs doing.
They will not stand there like some conflicted giant trying to divine which "civilians" are enemies and which are innocents.
Israel warned them to get out of the way and whoever is left on the field of battle is an enemy or a tool of the enemy and is thus fair game.

Any time a poster starts out with "I hate to have to say this" I pretty much know he doesn't.....
NOW....... it looks to me like in your post that you said that our mission in Iraq is "a mess."
Can you clarify that for me before I proceed? Just in case you miscommunicated what you actually meant when you said, "I really think this will turn into a real mess" after you said it would turn into the same situation we are in in Iraq......
Don't want to make any assumptions that a good freeper is on this board dissing our troops and their mission in Iraq.

btw, our mission in Iraq is successful..........not 'a real mess.'
Just in case my position wasn't clear in my last post.
And I'm betting that Israel isn't going to be in 'a real mess' either.

I have a gut feeling that the Israelies (sp?) know much more intelligence wise, because they speak Arabic better than our boys, and they can easily pass for Arabic. I bet a chocolate milk shake that they know much more that they are revealing.... I have faith in their abilities. Our boys in Iraq are doing the best they are allowed. But, Israel asks no-one's permission......
Prayers for Israel, May God Bless, Guide and Fight Along side of you......

Your fears seem justified, when one considers how the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon went. It was a big success at first - then it all turned sour. One the problems was the unforeseen consequences - in those days, no one had ever heard of Hezbollah, or imagined that the Shias of the south were capable of making such an organisation.
At the moment, everyone seems to assume that the existing Israeli alliance with the Lebanese Christians will hold. But I do not think it will. The Israelis have been bombing Christian areas quite strongly, and seem to be in a better relationship with the Lebanese Druze.
In the ME, todays friend is tomorrows enemy. One would be very brave to forecast the outcome in Lebanon.
