"A little mean-spirited, no?"
Perhaps, but Dakota is growing up and becoming involved in "adult activities," seemingly at any cost (regardless of whether or not the end objective is "art"). I have no problem with her other films. But this new direction of hers, though admittedly perhaps but a one-film departure from the norm, is shocking, to say the least.

And Jodi Foster did the same thing in Taxi Driver.

(If you aren't part of the solution, there is good money to be made prolonging the problem.)

If Libs were to go unchecked, all children would be in some sort of "Gone Wild" video.

You can kinda see what happened. She's been in a bunch of these big high budget movies as a kid. Somebody said she needed a role to show off her acting chops and get "street cred" in an indepdent film. This thing popped up -- which more or less shows you the level of independent films these days.

Most of her films have been okay. Whenever I've seen her on TV, she seems quite mature but nice. I've never seen her dress sleezy, but tastefully for her age.
I hope her parents don't make her grow up too fast.

The two child actresses most notorious for having a film like this in their youth (Foster and Brooke Shields) are as well adjusted and accomplished as any in Hollywood history. Well, Foster turned into a lesbian and Shields has had a notorious bout with depression. Though I guess by Hollywood standards, they are OK. Better off than Anissa Jones or Judy Garland anyway.

SOME of the more explicit scenes - yes.

Judy Garland was literally killed by the Studio System.

Depends on your meaning of well adjusted, I guess, as Jodie is sharing her life with another woman, raising two kids conceived by an unknown sperm donar.
Brooke does appear to be doing great, however.

That's one more trip to the movies than I've made this year. Haven't been to the video store either. You're doing great. It's been hard for me to give up movies - but it does gets easier with time...

there was a movie about a decade ago called "Kids". The opening scene was two pre-teens having sex. I guess the way they got around the law was the girl had her breasts covered (barely)

'Kids' was in the spirit of 'Scared Straight' films they used to show in middle school.

Again I disagree that merely creating a work of art about a subject encourages it.
