a lot cooler than AMY I guess????
Thanks for opening the weekend doors for us Billie. Right now I am in a floral (not a red bloom on it,,,it is a Victorian rose print) bathing suit but am going to a wine tasting & movie tongith & will have on my red AND MY SUPPORT THE TROOP BUTTONS ETC.
soup idea ... Last night for dinner I made meat for mom (kielbasi..easy) and mashed potatoes :& cauliflower. Had about 1 cup mashed potatoes left & same with the cauliflower. Mixed all together.. had not thrown own the cauliflower water which was about 2 cups left.. added some Havarti cheese, hot pepper seeds, milk, garlic etc.. Had some late last night & just now for lunch. Much better day two.
I don't believe in the mentality of Atkins (eliminating carbs).. I lost 40+ pounds this past year w/o dropping one carb from my diet.. I think potatoes are very healthy & a great source of potassium. Mighty good!!!!!
I think the elimination of refined sugar and refined flour are much better of an idea. GO natural. No margarine etc..use butter.. olive oil, canola oil, Real ice cream (rarely)..not just chemicals (that they pass as ice cream) regularly.
Eliminate soft drinks & most processed juices.
okay.. end of health class ! HA!
Whoopee.
I get new reading glasses today. Why I think getting old and the need of glasses is a whoopee I have no idea. ;-)
I also don't believe in Atkins (especially, well, the meat part). I've lost a substantial amount of weight by cutting out "empty" carbs. No flour, no sugar, no fake food (ESPECIALLY NO FAKE FATS, they are usually just replaced with bad carbs), except I do use a sweetener like Splenda.
Mine is actually a pretty high fat diet (think olives, avocado, real cream, cheese, all the nuts you want pretty much, because you feel so satisfied with so much less food, and chew, chew, chew), a cup of clear hot broth before at least two meals, and really really small portions. A relative of mine had gastric bypass surgery, and her post-surgical diet for some weeks was broth and teensy portions. I thought, why have the surgery if the diet you have to follow anyway works? (And it does.) Anyway, it worked for me.
Congratulations, Dolly!
