Cynthia McKinney Missing In Action

Rep. Cynthia McKinney was a no-show this week in the U.S. House, as WSB Washington Correspondent Jamie Dupree reports that the Georgia Democrat missed all four days of legislative business and every vote on the House floor as well.

McKinney's office offered no comment as to why the Congresswoman did not return to Washington after Tuesday's primary election, where she was forced into an August 8th runoff against Hank Johnson.

Also left unanswered Thursday night was whether McKinney would be back at the U.S. Capitol next week. The House has one more week of work before a scheduled August break.

McKinney missed 19 votes over four days on the House floor, including an attempted override of President Bush's veto of a bill dealing with embryonic stem cell research, a constitutional amendment that would ban same-sex marriage and a bill designed to prevent federal courts from ruling on the constitutionality of the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Georgia Democrat has missed nearly 11 percent of the 393 recorded votes in the U.S. House so far in 2006.

According to the Congressional Record, McKinney did have official permission to miss votes on Monday and Tuesday of this week, what is known as a "Leave of Absence." There was no notice of any request being granted for Wednesday's session of the House.

I agree with your second sentence but not the first.

I checked http://www.sos.state.ga.us/elections/elections/voter_information/
and found it to apply to my situation - I did not vote at all.

From the website:
"Note: Voters in our state do not register by party affiliation and the Primary is “open,” meaning electors may request the ballot of their choice regardless of their previous voting history. The only limitation on Primary participation is that voters who cast ballots in the July 18th General Primary may not “cross over” and cast a ballot in the opposing political party’s contest in the Primary Runoff election that will be held three weeks later, on August 8th. If a voter does NOT vote on July 18th, they can choose to cast a ballot in either party’s Runoff."

That's just sad. Whitney was a superstar with an amazing voice and a beautiful face. Her big mistake was getting mixed up with that bum she's married to.

What gets me is she admitted on national TV she does drugs, does them in front of her daughter no less, shows up in public looking totally cracked out, her own sister says she does crack in drug dens, yet the cops won`t bust her. What`s with that? Where the hell is child welfare? Like the saying goes, she can go three ways; She can quit, she can go to jail, or she can die, and to me it looks like she is far from quitting, only getting worse.
