There has been plenty of times my husband and even, on occasion, a coworker has walked up behind me and did the same thing! I've never seen my reaction televised, but I imagine I would not look pleased. Mainly because sometimes it hurts so good, or takes me by surprise.************
Exactly. Not to mention the fact that President Bush is just as warm toward men as he is to women. He's just a down-to-earth, nice man.

President Bush is a toucher, who cares about people and treats them well.
Merkel and he get along extremely well, as a hundred recent pictures show.
This is nothing but a leftist smear tactic that should be laughed off by any serious person.
(i.e. anyone 'concerned' about this needs to get in touch with reality)

Germans are uniquely puritanical about contact between men and women. I was once threatened by a Third Reich fascist for touching his wife. The contact was an Italian face-cheek to face-cheek touch. German men are far less concerned about the slaughter of innocents.
Guess the protocol counselor slept through that class.

You know there was a time when people touched and it was considered a warm gesture. There was also a time when a man could call a woman Hon or sweetie and it was not taken in the same context as FU. Give me a break, the fact that they wrote an editorial about it is ridiculous.
To: panthermom
Did you read the scathing editorial about the President when he patted Laura on the bottom during the 'Passing of the Peace' in church?
They were horrified that he would do such a thing.
It was a hoot!
(So is this, btw....)
Leftists can be SO amusing. :)

Merkel and he get along extremely well, as a hundred recent pictures show. Which is why I, and others I know, were so taken aback by Merkel's reaction.
Also, people can be interested in this without being "concerned", just like some people are interested in American Idol without being "concerned" about it.
No one here is trashing Pres. Bush, so just calm down.

"hurts so good" especially when your nerves are tensed up. That's the way I saw it. Ditto for me! When my surprise, or pain, slips out and they stop, I quickly move my hair out of the way and say please continue.
The knots across my upper shoulder region scream a lot, before they disappear.

I agree, I found it quite amusing some of the stuff that came in my email from some of my liberal friends.
I must admit I laughed at a few of their jokes concerning it, we all need to be able to laugh at ourselves....

The San Francisco Chronicle put it this way:... Any paper that unnecessarily quotes the Chron, as though it is in any way a reliable source, simply trivializes themself.

At least this one is so stupid that your everyday mushy middle American will laugh at it.
After the debauched one, the idea that the left is trying to paint President Bush as sexually harrassing anyone is beyond hilarious.
I LIKE that they're doing stuff like this.

You got it. The defenders of sex with interns now become all prissy about a small touch. They've already poisoned society. They've already poisoned relationships with women and made workplaces uninhabitable, all in the name of their feminist religion.
Ever hear of spontanaeity? Notice how sexual harassment doesn't have to be sexual anymore? It can be whatever offends the easy offendable. But in the case of Clinton's, Kennedy's, Dodd's, and Condit's, none of that applies. That's only for the rest of us yahoos.
These commie losers should take take a leap into a flaming landfill.

And the standard is so loose it amounts to, in a sense, what YOU feel like is a crime.
But when you're a Kennedy you can literally RAPE someone and YOU are the victim. The powerful get the greatest amount of leeway when they are the ones with the power to ruin a woman's life if she doesn't comply.
People are so freakin uptight about casual contact.
