Presidential press secretary Tony Snow today defended his boss' level of commitment to border security, saying President Bush is "cognizant" of the fact terrorists may be entering the U.S. illegally.
"The president has made his views on border security well-known," WND told the spokesman, "and my question: Would the president make border security a higher priority if he were convinced it was being used as an entry point by terrorists like those who are part of Hezbollah and al-Qaida?"
Responded Snow: "Think of it this way. The president committed as much money to the borders already as the House of Representatives was planning on doing in five years. So, he was serious before he's perfectly cognizant of the possibility there may be terrorists crossing over. We have intelligence assets deployed in the area, and so he's not going to be anymore concerned because he's already very concerned about it."
Yesterday, Snow indicated the president "is already putting National Guardsmen in positions where they can relieve the Border Patrol" part of a $1.9 billion supplemental appropriation.
Five friggin' years we have been SHOUTING TO THE TOP OF OUR LUNGS "SECURE THE BORDERS!"
and all we get is a lot of flack from the Bushbots and excuses from the Bush administration "these people are just doing jobs Americans won't do"...yea, well when the next 9/11 terrorists bombing goes off, we'll know exactly what "jobs" he was talking about.
Presidente Jorge Bush, your coffee is ready!
Excellent post!
Thanks. I am feeling sassy this morning.
Tell me more. And, prey tell what is an intellectual vs a psudointellectual, in your mind?
You are continuing to construct your own reality - one in which people say things they didn't say and people scream things they didn't scream, etc. just to keep your li'l world from fallling apart.
I hope someone is with you at all times.
Kind of missed the boat on this one Jorge, wonder if he found out that his co-president Fox wasn't holding up his end of the deal?
They aren't naive, Robekay, they agree. They're FROBL, one worlders.
Well... they haven't been screaming it here on FR the past 5 years, that's for sure.
Illegal immigration and border security just became the topic de jour everyday since the beginning of this year. Go back in FRs history, people were not tearing into Bush here on FR in 01, 02, 03, and even 04 during the election.
LOL........here's you a *few statistic's on your "non-criminal" illegal workers......& this *only covers three crimes......
Check out the following to see who is the bigger threat to American Citizens today, terrorists or illegals. Feel free to share it.
Over 19,000 Americans have died a violent death at the hands of murderous illegal aliens since 9/11 (12 a day).*
Over 20,000 Americans have died at the hands of uninsured drunk driving illegal aliens since 9/11 (13 a day).*
Over 13,000 American children are the victim of a sex crime at the hands of illegal aliens since 9/11 (8 a day).*
Less than 7,000 Americans have died on 9/11 and after due to terrorism, including those who died fighting terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan.
What is the bigger threat to Americans today, terrorist thugs or illegal aliens?

Jihadi Akhmed is bringing mortars and RPG launchers. He's going to take out your whole house, because that's how he has learned to play. If you stand around with only hand weapons Bubba, you're already worm food.
Semper Fidelis
I've seen that same response many times. It's like y'all's last line of defense. Squeaky wheel gets the grease and all that stuff. lol
So, you agree with the Bush administration priorities that going after criminals was a higher priority than nannies? Is that what you are trying to say?
And that stops terrorists from walking over our Southern borders how? Are they stopping at border checkpoints? No, they're walking on in, carrying whatever they wish, unchecked. Some have been arrested at the border of Mexico (US side), and evidence exists that many have gotten through. You say we're Johnny one-note? Wrong. But this is 1 of the isues that we've been yelling/screaming/pleading be addressed by the Government for years, and they've chosen to ignore it. If a car bomb goes off in your town, and they trace the terrorist back to having walked over the open border, will you ask why Johnny One Note's pleadings were ignored?
I bet the Border Patrol would be really amazed to find out that we have an "Open Border".
Now there's a bet I would take in a heartbeat. The USBP knows and willing admits that they are undermanned and that their efforts are being dwarfed by the massive number of illegal aliens crossing the border.
It's unfortunate that individuals fail to see the social, economic and political effect this is having on our nation. Yes, we can turn our heads and ignore the problem (something you obviously do) or we can and WILL make our opinions known to our elected public officials as well as the media. This is something that isn't simply going to go away. Contrary to what you may think the "choir" gets larger each and every day.
Learn to live with that fact.
Facts obviously cloud your understanding of the seriousness of this issue. This has absolutely nothing to do with race so you can drop the "Buchannanite" garbage. (What would Pat say about a Jew married to a Mexican?)
No Johnnie, you're way off base in your logic and those of us wanting to see secure borders and effective immigration policies will have our way, perhaps not today or tomorrow, but sooner than you might think.
Bubba has an M-4, and an FFL. (so, the M-4 is full auto)
thanks...
Akhmed can bring it...cuz if he's running round this country with RPGs and mortars, by that time the NAT Gaurd will be unlocking all the armories around the nation..and going to town on some Jihadi arse...
Have faith in your county.
"Rangers lead the way..."
County= country, citizenry...
