Run, Newt, Run! (he’s back, and he’s doing the kicking)
NRO ^ | July 21, 2006, | Rich Lowry

Posted on 07/21/2006 4:35:35 AM PDT by IrishMike

The casual TV viewer has probably noticed two things during the past few days — there’s a war in the Middle East, and Newt Gingrich is commenting on it. Gingrich has been a ubiquitous analyst on the war — ubiquity being one of the tireless, outsized former House speaker’s favorite qualities. In between appearances in his role as a commentator for the Fox News Channel, Gingrich announced on Meet the Press that we are in the midst of World War III. A few days later, Hezbollah declared that it welcomed World War III, nicely capturing the moment: Simultaneous with its shooting war with Israel, Hezbollah is in a war of words with Newt Gingrich.

The old conventional wisdom about Gingrich was that we wouldn’t have him to kick around anymore. The new conventional wisdom is that he’s back, and he’s doing the kicking. Ousted by his own party after its losses in the 1998 midterm elections, Gingrich has reestablished himself as a party leader through sheer intellectual energy. He has had something intelligent to say about literally every issue of the hour, from health care to Katrina to the war on terror. “He has helped himself immensely — he’s all over the place,” says former Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie.

the problem with that analysis -- even if it were true -- was that the GOP took a real pasting in the 1974 post-Watergate election that destroyed its representation in state after state after state among statewide elected officials, state legislators and local officials - not to mention the House and the Senate. You are just making things up.

The best estimate is that Clinton has had sex with somewhere in the vicintiy of 500 womwn give or take a few and not counting Hillary.

Yet when they tried to find woman to trash him they found just Kathleen Wiley and Paula Jones and a couple of others.

Ask the state troopers in Arkansas how many women he had. They said he had about 30 to 35 different women each year. It was not one night with one woman. It was lots of nights with lots of different women. A tiny fraction turned on him.

In fact Monica was not scorned... Monica was proud of having sex with Clinton. Not only that, but Monica's Mom was proud of her daughter having sex with Bill Clinton. When Monica told her mother she had had sex with Bill Clinton her mother congratulated her. That is not scorn.

Remember the female newspaper reporter who said she would gladly give Clinton a b job if that would ease Billy's tension as president? Scorned women are not known for offering oral sex.

Men like Bill Clinton don't have to ask. They only have to decide which one. When Bill was younger it was which two... Sometimes which three!!

Good afternoon.

Strange post there, CT.
"...when they tried to find woman to trash him they found just Kathleen Wiley and Paula Jones and a couple of others."

Who's they, why aren't only a few accusations a few more than are needed to condemn him, and how on earth could the fact that there are stupid women as well as smart ones excuse the swine anyway? Back when the feminist hyenas were after Clarence Thomas I heard one say that the mere accusation was enough. Again, how does bill's lack of morals not matter, but Newt's do and what does that have to do with Newt's chances at gaining the White House?

You came off on Newt like he crucified the Messiah yet you defended bill clinton by saying that it was OK that he was a pig because most of the women he soiled didn't care. I don't think I've ever seen bj clinton defended in this forum in quite the same way. Hell, I don't think I've ever seen clinton defended here in any way, at least not by someone who wasn't zotted within a couple of posts.

Were all those words supposed to provide a defense of a self-centered liar in order to prove that bill's amorality was OK, but Newt Gingrich's fallibility is not.

You do realize that you didn't mention Newt Gingrich in this post, don't you? This whole exchange was started when I wrote that Newt's past isn't going to mean much when compared to clinton's yet the only thing you have written about is the fact that billy could score and that means he didn't scorn women like the evil Newt did.

Well, bill clinton treated women like meat and he didn't treat the country any better. We'll see in the election how much women hold Newt's past against him and time will tell how well bill's image holds up. It's amazing that you could write what you have without spewing on your keyboard.

Maybe it's the heat. It's 113 on my hill right now. Maybe it's hot where you are and your brain has overheated. Go get some water, FRiend, stick your head in a bucket and try to lower your temperature. While you're at it picture bill wagging his finger in your face and saying "I did not have sex with that woman...".

Before you go, what do you think of Haley Barbour(SP?)?

I hate to say it but I like Newt better as a candidate than Mcpain, guiliani, frist but that isnt saying much

I'm with you. I'm more concerned with who the GOP runs than who the dems put up.

Dems always get the pass.
