Amazing, many years ago as a young paratrooper (that isn't too fond of heights), I read an article about a supplier of the material for parachute risers receiving a light sentence for selling us inferior goods.

It wasn't only the possible loss of life that bothered me, but more importantly the failure of an important mission.

The death sentence should be looked at in all treason cases.

It should at least be the starting point, then maybe the guy can work it down.

No information given here as to what ultimately became of the parts, other than the country. Was this merely a case of doing something that would otherwise be okay, the wrong way?

Pretty much so. He was a periphreal player in the cae against Durrani.

Neither of these parts or engines, the T-55 or the J85 are current state of the art affairs. But some of the parts are still covered by the "CONTROLLED UNCLASSFIED MILITARY INFORMATION ( CUMI ) TECHNICAL DATA and DOD5230.25.

This guy was a bit player looking to make a fast buck. He got caught. Not really unusual in the biz.
