The most powerful men the world has ever known are George Bush and Dick Cheney men who make war but avoided combat when they had a chance to fight. They are not merely hypocrites, however. Their hypocrisy is attached to policy, and that policy is a danger to the nation.
Bush and Cheney must be impeached for their high crimes and removed from office. Their wars on Afghanistan and Iraq are illegal wars of aggression outlawed by the U.N. Charter, the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law.
Throughout human history, those who kill, bully, scheme, lie and cheat are usually the people who gain power over communities of humans. We call these people "rulers." For the last 600 years men and women fought to restrain out-of-control, absolute monarchs with their arbitrary powers to start wars, rape, murder, steal, starve, destroy and tax.
Since the Enlightenment, citizens have fought for the idea that humans should come together, either selected or elected, to discuss and adopt a body of law. Those laws would then "rule" the community. Their fight was successful. In many nations today kings, queens, prime ministers and presidents lead their nations, but laws limit their power.
The British struggled for 400 years to place the concept of impeachment in their body of laws. The revolutionaries, who fought against the British to found our nation, placed the concept of impeachment front and center in our Constitution. Jefferson, Adams, Washington and others argued that all citizens and political leaders are always beneath the law. No one has the power to operate above the law. Therefore, if a person is elected or appointed to a government position, he or she must follow the laws or be removed from office by impeachment. We have lost the rule of law and the fairness of law. Bush and Cheney have placed themselves above the law. They have started two wars of aggression, organized the torture of prisoners, set up secret prisons, conducted warrantless wiretaps on Americans, and broken the nuclear disarmament treaty. The list goes on.
Today our family members can be effectively prosecuted for things like the violation of traffic laws. But Bush and Cheney, who started illegal wars and are causing the deaths of tens of thousands of people, go scot-free and stay in power. There has been no accountability for our highest leaders when they break the law. The concepts of fairness and justice at the highest levels in our nation are broken.
On top of this, one of the most sacred values in a republic, free and fair elections, has been tarnished. We now have questionable election outcomes in 2000 and 2004, leaving us with an uncertainly whether Bush was fairly elected.
You and I, as citizens, and our nation, as a member of the world of nations, are in an untenable situation. But the founding fathers and mothers provide us with a "repair." It is the impeachment process. You and I must rise up and demand that our elected representatives commence the impeachment process in the U.S. House of Representatives. Let the House investigate the allegations of law breaking. If they believe law breaking has taken place, let the Senate then decide whether Bush and Cheney will be removed from office.Where to start? Today, groups in nearly 50 cities across America will be conducting impeachment teach-ins sponsored by the nonpartisan Center for Constitutional Rights.
Please join us this evening at the teach-in hosted by the Madison Area Peace Coalition. It will start at 7 in Room 2650 of the UW-Madison Humanities Building on campus. There will be a film on the Center for Constitutional Right's recent book, "Articles of Impeachment Against George W. Bush,"followed by discussions by UW Madison law Professor David Schwartz, attorney and activist Ben Manski and the audience.
You can make a difference. No one else is going to restore the rule of law for ourselves and our kids. We either restore the rule of law now or it will be gone. Join us tonight and decide if it is time for you to take action.

Welcome to Free Republic.

Same morons who shout why didnt we get OBL yet..make up your minds.
Probably be a cool place to pick up brainless hippy chicks though. Tell them you hate Bush , toss around Haliburton , praise Mother Sheahan ..You'd be in easy.
What a TOTAL crock of sh*t . You're out there brother.
Have ran across a lot of those same people and they argue that Clinton wasn't impeached.
Yeah. We were shopping a few weeks ago, and the woman who ran the shop was prattling on to some customers about how evil George Bush is and that Americans are the biggest terrorists of all, and how dare we invade another country and blah blah blah blah.
It's one thing reading this kind if moronic drivel reposted here from the DUmmies, but it's jarring to see a real live (and presumably sentient) human being spouting this nonsense.
As the phrase goes, "stuck on stupid"...
These people are nuts! It'd be fun to see them with a President Rumsfeld.
LOL
I've said it before, idiots and word processors don't mix.
