He should be thankful Bush is civilized or there's one head that would soon be rolling.
Not very reliable. If Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki is denouncing Israel defending itself then he is not only standing against Bush and the US but the Saudis, Jordanians and every other freedom loving people on the planet. And "The New York Times?" Common. Does anybody honestly believe anything they might publish anymore?
Of course this is just my opinion but hey...
Apparently this is not true. There are large areas of Lebanon and Beirut that have not been even close to shells and bombs.
I'm not that familiar with IWT, which is why I posted the caveat--I haven't seen this published anywhere else, although Yahoo news did carry it from this source for a short while this morning. However, I'd think if he said anything this explosive, all the wireservices would be carrying it--gleefully.
Impossible! In a new and democratic Iraq??
More and more, I am wondering why we saved their sorry *sses.
Personally, I think Maliki is trying to unite Iraq any way he can. He's also trying to break away from the appearance of being a US puppet. I think his statements are politically, not religiously motivated.
Not surprising. We're working with them, we're helping them to build a democratic government. They didn't stop being arabs, or muslims, or shia.
Democratic government, in theory, just means the government reflects the will and sensibilities of the people better than some other form of government. If the people are muslims, the democratic government is going to see the world through a muslim prism. Not surprisingly, it does.
IMHO. Simply for public consumption. Public=Iraqi Shiite. He obviously has to yet deal with a similiar situation with two large Shia militias in Iraq. He walks a tight fence.
Iraqi, US Troops Battle Shi'ite Militia in Baghdad ~ 30 to 40 insurgents were killed or wounded
Israels WOT has brought emotions/interests to the surface in Iraq, or maybe the reality.
This should make you double glad we have over 100,000 troops stationed ther.
Whereas before this sentiment in Iraq might have meant a real threat to Israel. Now it doesn't.
