WASHINGTON (AP) President Bush has issued the first veto of his presidency, rejecting a bill to expand federal research on stem cells obtained from embryos.

If there were really the 'gains' in research that the left is claiming there is, then private labs would be doing it. But they're not.

As I understand it Life isn't being created specifically for the research but embryos are already in existence for other reasons.

The couple are free to donate whatever they chose to any private enterprise. They simply cannot make their donation to the government where I would be funding the research.

And I think the private sector is where this belongs. The reluctance of companies to invest appears more due to the very long time frame that any potential discovery could be commercialize. I don't think it is because they think that it is unsatisfactorily risky.
