I sometimes wonder if any of these so-called "conservative experts" know anything, at all, about diplomacy.

If Bush were serious about calling off the dogs, why has he waited this long?

It's all chess moves.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice should stay home if her mission is to go to the Middle East in an attempt to tell Israel to stop the war against Hezbollah.
----
For sure. Outside of the terrorists themselves, this government has done more to PROLONG THE TERROR in the Middle East than any other force. And all for politics. It is time to let Israel determine its own future --- the U.S. should sit quietly on the sidelines, give support to Israel where needed, but again -- STAY OUT OF IT.

Now if Iran or Syria gets involved (as if they are not now) then that is another matter -- but not to stop the fighting. It is high time an end was brought to terrorist nations, especially BEFORE Iran gets the bomb.

Sounds to me that they will put the pressure on that bad-boy Bashar.

Bush: You see, the … thing is what they need to do is to get Syria, to get Hezbollah to stop doing this sh_t and it’s over...

Would President Bush refrain from going to war if Hezbollah sleeper cells launched a terrorist attack in the United States?

Nobody said anything about not "going to war" - the State Department merely urged "restraint".

We used "restraint" in both Afghanistand and Iraq - we went out of our way to not target innocent civilians. Is that such a terrible thing?

I know the easiest and quickest inclination is to say "wipe them all out - men, women and children". Is that waht we really want to do? Sometimes I think so, but upon reflection - we would become our enemy.

The State Department is full of dilpomats - that is their job. Why act surprised when they make statments like "use restraint". The Pentagon is where the generals work - not the State Department. Let each section of the government do its own job.

It must be a Law of Nature like the Sun rising in the East.

Israel's wars have a time limit. Finished or not, in days or weeks, it must end. Israel rushes its wars- there is a strategic penalty to be paid.

And how does it end- always.

Advantage Israel. Arabs live to fight another day after they rebuild their fantasies that they held off Israel and that was a win.

And when they do fight on that other day- the world is shocked at the "outbreak" and "cycle of violence".

How long have the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan lasted? How about the US just allows Israel a small measure of that same time? To be deliberate. To be precise. To once and for all finalize something.

Better yet, how about the US concluding that it is not its place to allow or disallow Israel. That's too much I guess.

Condi, go shopping instead. You want to look fabulous for your next meeting with Kofi and other appeasers

How do you put pressure on Iran and Syria when we are going in three different directions? The President wants one policy, the Democrats want something different and wimps and whiners want to bury there heads in the sand and hope it all goes away. This is the right prescription for defeat.

The leftist anti-American press and RAT politicians want to send the 21st century equivalent of the guy on the left, to see the 21st century equivalent of the guy on the right. And we all know what happens in the end because of this appeasement, right?
