The whole project was estimated to be $4 billion or less. It's now at $14 billion.

What Dukakis is saying is that his guy could have done the job for $7 billion, or almost twice what it was planned for.

I love this ~ all answers are bad!!! Ain't often you find that.

I wonder what Willie Horton has to say about this?

No wonder a two bedroom apartment in Back Bay costs $10(10).

Let the finger pointing begin! Of course if Dukakis were still governor, he would furlough anyone jailed for negligence or other criminal conduct in association with this multi-billion dollar boondoggle!

You know, suddenly riding in tanks while wearing hydrocephalically big helmets doesn't seem quite so dorky.

The really funny (and curious) thing about Dukakis here in Massachusetts is that it's all but impossible to find anyone who will admit to *ever* having voted for him.

I wonder if Kitty D. still drinks running alcohol to catch a buzz...and forget who she's married to.

ROTFLMFAO!!!!!!!

It looks like with all the H1B visas granted lately to foreign engineers (undercutting all technical degree salaries), they could have found someone who did know what to do. I don't think it would have helped. It's probably not a design problem, but is related to the poor quality of materials actually delivered to the project and/or slipshod installation methods.

Typical results from a mob and union infested Yankee building project.

Governor Michael S. Dukakis, whose administration hired Big Dig manager Bechtel/Parsons Brinckerhoff, yesterday attributed problems on the huge construction project to later administrations.

Lemme guess. He was your fav...
