WASHINGTON - The White House emphatically renewed President' Bush's threat to veto a bill heading toward Senate passage that would authorize federal funding for embryonic stem cell research, a practice Bush loathes.
"If (the bill) were presented to the president, he would veto the bill," read a fresh official statement of administration policy Monday, with the sentence underlined for emphasis.

The Senate, ONCE AGAIN, DOES NOT GET IT.
I am sick of these people voting against the people of the United States. If its not this is the Gay Marriage Amendment which they will not support either. They are rats for doing such things.

The vote was 63-37. Wonder which of our GOP Senators decided a pro-life vote might pay off . . . and which ones couldn't care less.

Hopefully, the screenname I chose when Bush was first elected (abandoning a much nicer one), will now pay off. As far as I know, throughout one and one-half terms, George has never vetoed anything. Very disappointing.

As long as the pro-lifers stay strong congress won't be able to override a veto.

It's time for a unicameral legislature. The Senate is not representing the majority of the people and has become an elitist oligarchy.
To: Veto!
We will get the veto because no matter what one thinks of Bush's policies he won't abandon his pro-life stance.

Sure, lets change change the make up of Congress, looks like it only worked for 200+ years! Of course the next time you lose a vote, you will want to get rid of Congress completely.

What the hell is a 'looser'? Somebody who focuses on a careless spelling mistake instead of the issue at hand.

Well, the House also didn't get it or we wouldn't be here.
I hold both of those bodies responsible for this.

No, we don't need a unicameral legislature, we just need to Repeal the 17th amendment and restore some lost checks and balances. If the state legislatures had their voices in the Senate again, the Senate would behave much differently when it votes.
