I wish Israel would stop insulting the world's intelligence by asking the Lebanese Army to disarm Hezbollah one hand, and destroying their bases on the other. As of now Israel has targeted and killed more Lebanese soldiers than Hezbollah terrorists. Someone has a hidden agenda.

I blame the Lebanese government and the lebanese army.

I have a question for you: Who determines whether the people killed in Israel's attacks are "Lebanese" as opposed to Hezbollah/Hezbollah sympathizers/Syrians/Iranians/etc.? Do you really trust the victim count of the Lebanses government, given that they are anti-Israel and have allowed Hezbollah/Syria to run amok?

The current U.N. force in southern Lebanon has proven impotent and a larger, stronger force could hamper any future Israeli attacks, should any deal fall apart.

Since the 2005 elections, Hizb'Allah controls at least
twenty-three seats in the 128-member Lebanese Parliament,
and has two ministers in the government, with a third is endorsed by the group.
With the bloc it forms with other groups, the "Resistance and Development Bloc",
the terrorists control circa 30% of the Lebanese gov't and current Cabinet.
So what "agenda" do you speak of?
And what proof do you have that "Israel has targeted and killed more Lebanese soldiers than Hezbollah terrorists"?

Israel has to bite the bullet and root out Hizbulla in Southern Lebanon. Israel hesitates because this will be nasty ground combat with Israel deaths. There will be traps and IED mines for tanks

I suspect that the Lebanese Army positions that were struck have been helping Hezbollah. According to Israel, the Lebanese Army RADAR site that was hit earlier in the week, had been remoting to the Hezbollah missile battery which hit the Israeli warship.

25,000 Americans in Lebanon I am curious as to what 25,000 U.S. citizens are doing in Lebanon. Can someone answer that? It is going to take more than one "cruise ship" to bring that many people back to the U.S.

An aide to Olmert indicated, however, that the prime minister was ready to compromise on the question of dismantling the Islamic militant group. Thank heavens. When I'm old and senile fifty years from now I'll still be able to talk with my grandkids about the recent tit-for-tat attacks, Israel bombing empty buildings and fields to "send a message", even though I'm completely senile and just repeating myself over and over from my failing memory.

I would suggest that you check your prejudices at the door. The Israelis have demonstrated more restraint under very trying circumstances, over the decades, than we would have allowed had it been US citizens being slaughtered by terrorists. They have played every game that has been demanded of them in the name of peace, and STILL the attacks against them have come.
Before blaming the Israelis for Lebanese army deaths, you might take a more in-depth look at the whole picture. The Israelis have been pushed as far as they intend to be and are finally pushing back.

"The Lebanese army has largely stayed out of the fighting, but its positions have been repeatedly attacked by Israeli warplanes, undermining Israel's call for it to help push back Hezbollah from the border."
I wish Israel would stop insulting the world's intelligence by asking the Lebanese Army to disarm Hezbollah one hand, and destroying their bases on the other.
*****************
Perhaps the two are related. If Lebanon and her army insist on continuing to harbor Hezbollah, how are they to be distinguished from one another? Perhaps your intelligence is so easily insulted. Mine is not.
