First, the income tax is an abomination in that it violates free speech. Assuming that this IRS interpretation of it is accurate, which I think it is not....for that reason alone, it should be struck down.
Actually, all of this is an outgrowth of and the only remaining part of Campaign Finance Reform. Every other part of CFR has been negated, overturned, or struck down except for McCain's successful abridgement of our First Amendment Rights. Keep that in mind when he comes around asking for you to vote for him for Pres in '08.

CFR has nothing to do with it. A requirement of an exempt organization (at least since 1954) has been that they not engage in political activity without losing their exemption.
