Hizbullah on Monday rejected a ceasefire on terms dictated by Israel.
We accept no conditions for a ceasefire, whatever the pressure," Abdullah Kasir, a member of Hizbullah's central committee, told AFP.
Sources in Prime Minister Ehud Olmerts office said during the weekend that the possibility of a ceasefire will not be considered before three conditions are met: The release of the kidnapped IDF soldiers by Hizbullah, the cessation of rocket attacks on Israel from Lebanon and the disarming of Hizbullah in accordance with UN Resolution 1559.
Kasir said Israel's demand to see the Lebanese army deploy along the border with Israel, replacing Hizbullah who currently control the area, was a matter for the Lebanese to settle themselves.
He added that the two Israeli soldiers, abducted in a cross-border raid by Hizbullah last Wednesday, were in "a secure place" but did not specify whether they were still in Lebanon.
Asked whether Hizbullah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah, was still in Lebanon despite Israeli efforts to target him, Kasir said that "Hizbullah's leadership and Nasrallah are at the heart of the battle
"We will never leave, even if Lebanon is reduced to scorched earth."
Hizbullah, he said, was "ready to fight and to inflict painful blows on the enemy. The Islamic Resistance (Hizbullah's armed wing) has only begun to reveal its abilities and its forces."
Israel, he added, should brace for more "surprises", such as last Friday's anti-ship missile which stuck an Israeli Navy vessel off Lebanon and the rocket attacks on Haifa, Israel's third-largest city.
In the words of President Bush, See the irony is that what they need to do is get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this s--- and it's over," July 17, 2006
I think Jim Woolsey will get his wish sooner than he thinks.
"Hizbullah on Monday rejected a ceasefire on terms dictated by Israel."

First they had to check first with Ahmadinejad rejecting.
I'd still like to see them use a small, tactical, nuke to scorch a little of Hez's ground.... and then say "holy cow.... Iran gave them a nuke and they acciently set it off before they could use it on us!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!!!" :)
I am beginning to think that the Israelis are using the tactics of mistake -- sucking your opponent into an untenable position by convincing them that they are winning.
The US did something similar in the Gulf War. We spent a lot of time convincing Saddam that:
a. We were going to fight the type of war he wanted us to fight (amphibious invasion at Kuwait City).
b. Our airpower was ineffective against his ground forces (done by the sneaky overemphasis on airstrikes against the Republican Guard -- dropping unaimed iron bombs against dug-in tanks (totally ineffective), while understating precision munition strikes against front-line units that Saddam could not visit).
c. That Saddam was going to win (because he had an undamaged army, and we were planning Iranian-style frontal attacks).
As a result, instead of folding his hand, Saddam fell for the fake "tell", and kept seeing and raising until two days after the Coalition started its ground offensive, and he was no longer able to simply peacefully pull out.
Similarly Israeli actions are emboldening Hizbollah to where Hizbollah thinks they can beat the Israelis in a stand-up fight.
Then he's got the IQ of a turnip.
Syria's ambassador just said that they want no part of this war, and that their country is available as safe haven for any Americans who need to leave Lebanon. Further, Syria has refused to mobile her Army.
Saudi Arabia just told Hezbollah that "you got yourself into this war, you can get yourself out."
Iran has just called for a ceasefire.
Why?
Because the U.S. Army is on the ground on Syria's and Iran's borders...and we have a wartime President who has already kicked Charles Taylor out of Liberia, forced Libya to surrender their WMD programs, arrested Saddam Hussein, put Taliban leaders into remote, rural Afghan caves, and forced Syria's Army out of Lebanon.
What large elements of our traitorous CIA want would be for the U.S. to fail everywhere, to be overextended and humiliated.
Won't happen.
This war won't spread, and it wouldn't be lost even if it did, for the simple reason that the U.S. will grind into dirt any other nation who got involved.
Sun Tzu would say that this is a good thing. Woolsey is wrong.
Yeah, they can do some of that, but keep in mind that they've been sending their limited supply of suicide bombers to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Egypt (e.g. at Sharm al Sheikh).
Moreover, suicide bombers are more useful against massed civilian populations rather than against armor in war zones. For instance, suicide bombers are rather ineffective at stopping aerial bombardment.
And using suicide bombers against massed civilian populations will postpone the global diplomatic outcry against Israel...so everytime Hezbollah lights one off, they probably add 3 to 4 weeks to Israel's offensive (should Israel need more time to wipe out Hezbollah, anyway).
Good, that clears the way for mass carpet bombing.
Anyone who believes Syria is doing this for humanitarian reasons has a screw loose.Syria wants human shields in case the fighting is brought to their doorstep.
Fine. Let Israel continue to take apart Hezballah.
"Why?
Because the U.S. Army is on the ground on Syria's and Iran's borders..."
I don't think humanitarian reasons were inferred. More like "fear".
It would be too good to be true. Now, when we have a wartime, warrior President and U.S. armor on the ground at Syria's and Iran's borders...now would be the time for "the showdown."
Won't happen. Syria's not that dumb. The mad mullahs aren't that dumb.
Instead, you've got Saudi Arabia speaking for the Arab League by saying that hezbollah got itself into this war, and it can get itself out.
Likewise, Iran and Syria aren't mobilizing their Reserves.
Persian Iran, already in a showdown with the U.S. over their nuclear program that could easily lead to a hot war that ends the debate, clearly doesn't want Arab Hezbollah doing what clumsy diplomacy could not: i.e. start a shooting war with the U.S.
So as in past wars, the Islamic World that is only too happy to goad obtuse Palestinians into attacking Israel...will once again refuse to come to Hezbollah's aid (think, Israeli invasions in 1996/1997).
But this time *is* different in that Israel isn't going to stop with just bloodying Hezbollah. This is the end for them.
Syria's motivation is fear.
The world has two prime motivators: fear and greed. Everything else factors in less.
Put off your nutty little tactical nuke. If you live by the sword you die by the sword. Jews are smart enough not to start little nukings.
Good news. Israel will have to find another excuse to cave. Israel doesn't have much time before the 'world community' gets down its collective throat for daring to defend itself.
We are weak. Not in capability, but in will.
I have an Iranians and Jewish co-workers who liked eating pork adobo on office potlucks. They don't eat pork if their co practicing muslims or co Jews are watching. Yeap they don't do it if their own get offended.
