Notice this comment:

Similarly, they are orienting towards one another (another positive sign), although seemingly listening to someone else.

These comments are by experts????

These pics are great because Bush looks large and in charge.......and other world leaders are wanting to be around him and want to be a part of whatever he is doing....no one wants to be left out!!!

Maybe I'm being overly optimistic, but I think that we're in a new phase here. With Schroeder gone, Chirac ineffectual and due for retirement and Putin apparently settling for a rivalry that's friendly on a personal level and non-hostile on a public level, it seems that everybody is going to stop giving us a rash of crap about Iraq and focus on what needs to be done to keep the jihadis from spreading.

That's the great thing about W: every time they "catch" him on tape, he's exactly in private what he is in public. Only MORE.

Compare that to the times Clinton got caught, such as leaving Ron Brown's funeral.

I don't think you're just being old-fashioned, and I've never held hands with anyone since my wife and I became an item, unless you count holding the kids' hands while needing to lead them someplace. However, I'd also note that this is a still photo, and they might have just had a hold of each other's hands for a moment. I've had handshakes, especially with women, that would have looked like that if a still photo had been snapped at the right second, and He might have ben offering her a hand to steady her.

Besides, you know Laura doesn't have to worry about him straying.

WOW! I thought L.B.J. came back to Life. Now I Know why I instinctively disliked Chirac, he is a spittin image of one of the worst Presidents of all time!

If I recall correctly, back during the startup to the war, a German legislator made a comment comparing Bush to Hitler and we here at FR, among other concerned Americans, let the German government/embassies know they were, shall we say, completely out of line.

Again, if I recall correctly, Merkel spoke up quite eloquently in Bush's defense at that time, and also condemned as ignorant anyone who lightly used Hitler's name and legacy.

Yep---I think there was more "expert" analysis on this thread than anything the Beeb rounded up!

I also found myself feeling much more optimistic after reviewing these pics---nevermind anything the "experts" said about them.

They truly told me more than 1,000 words.

Exactly. Compare that to the time one of W's (former) confidantes published candid tapes of W talking about drug use etc.---his private position was exactly consistent with his public one.

Also wanted to amplify from my previous response that I also don't think naps is being old-fashioned. And Mr. Silverback, good point: sometimes people "take hands" when they are about to go down a step or something like that--a chilvarous incident, if you will.

That's why I think the pic will drive the moonbats crazy! :-) They will view it as W patronizing or subordinating or helping (down the stairs, into a car, whatever) a woman and that is not allowed!
