Secretary of State Madeleine Albright was mistaken for a maid during last year’s peace negotiations for Kosovo in Rambouillet, France. According to a report in the "New York Daily News," the Secretary of State at first wasn’t recognized by the Albanian delegation when she walked into their room.

“One member of the delegation, who didn’t realize who she was, and probably thinking she was some cleaning lady because it was after midnight, simply said to her, ‘Give us five minutes and please go away,’” recalled Albanian diplomat Dugagjin Gorani in War on Europe, a British TV program. Instead, Albright exploded in rage, swearing at the group, according to the reports.

“Mrs. Albright started using explicit language which the translators never could translate into Albanian,” says Veton Surroi, another member of the delegation.

Doug, all that being true enough, I still am fascinated by the fact that the witch has chosen never to have shaved her legs.

And, that was before Alright Albright found her true Jewish heritage in the Sioux Falls "Who's Who".

[ Albright has been called "tough" on issues, an "outspoken woman who tells it like it is." Unfortunately, she is generally tough on the wrong issues and has a flair for telling it like it isn’t. Even after it wasn’t. ]

This is good ------ Albright’s old boss, former National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski, commended her "people-handling": "She knows how to make people feel good about themselves," he said. This skill came in handy on her long climb up, during which Albright allied herself with, and in some cases made herself indispensable to, winners like Muskie, Michael Dukakis, Walter Mondale and Jimmy Carter.

Albright’s father was Josef Korbel, former Czech diplomat to Yugoslavia and later a revered professor of foreign affairs at Denver University, where he founded the Graduate School for International Studies. At first, Korbel was reluctant to allow female students into the graduate program, believing their prospects to be limited. But one female changed his mind definitively: Condoleezza Rice. The woman at the forefront of the foreign policy which his daughter today maligns.
