July 16, 2006 -- JERUSALEM - Israeli airstrikes targeting Hezbollah strongholds pounded central Beirut yesterday as terrorist rockets continued to be fired back across the border - and Iranian involvement was exposed in the attack on an Israeli warship. Israeli officials charged that elite Iranian troops operating in Lebanon were involved in the Hezbollah offensive, and were responsible for firing an Iranian-made, radar-guided C802 missile - not the unmanned bomb-laden drone originally reported - that struck the warship on Friday, killing four sailors.
"There are Iranian officers belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard among Hezbollah and they operated the missile," said Israeli Vice Prime Minister and elder statesman Shimon Peres.

The Saudis have criticized Hezbollah.
In case you don't recall, during a previous war involving Israel, the Saudis boycotted us. Put a hurting into our economy.
So yes, it is a big deal that they are criticizing Hizbollah here and not Israel.
We need new writers....ones who have cojones, pride and courage. Because without courage, you can have the best guns in the west but the indians will still shoot you while you sit down and talk with them.
Its time we stop hiding behind the word compassionate for fear of having to do the courageous.
Oil is up to 75 plus a barrel. I havn't seen any Saudi oil tankers full of free oil coming our way. Seems they are still sticking it to US.
Hey, if I thought we had the time, I'd be all for playing poker with Islam, but now its time to .... play WAR.
They are not boycotting us, OK? And are undercutting Hezbollah.
It's Mossad time in Iran.
I'd hate to be the night watchman around some of those nuclear facilities.
Iran is the "belly of the beast". Hezbolla is at best the gall bladder, but it needs to be surgically removed, anyway.
The difference between Hezbollah and the Wahhabists is as much as the difference between the NAZIs and the Fascists - the goals are identical, but the philosophy is slightly different - but both are equally evil.
I bet Saudi money SOMEHOW finds its way into Hezbollah pockets, along with Iranian petrodollars.
To join the war? You're nuts. This isn't America's war, Israel can defend itself just fine on its own, especially cause it has mostly U.S. weapons and intelligence.
Well, you know what they say -- "Tit-for-tat leaves the whole world titless."
"You're nuts." LOL Well, maybe. Certainly, that rumor has been around for over 30 years. However, Iran will have to be dealt with -- maybe it would be better to do so now, rather than later.
Where's your garbage, RiNO-lover?
He's stated a concrete problem: the militarization of assassins, and the impending likelihood that they'll acquire, and promptly use, nuclear weapons on anyone they don't like.
So where is your solution?
Other, that is, than re-electing Rockefeller Republicans to be in charge of everything? And always and everywhere screwing real conservatives and Reaganauts and shutting conservatives out of policy discussions? We already know about that one.
I think we should all hold our breath, stamp our little feet, and sit home!!
Yes and no. It's our war to this extent, that the enemy of my friend is my enemy as well, and that would be true even if we weren't already a) fighting Hamas's little shower buddies in Iraq (which was an excellent move, our engaging them there, IMHO), b) facing off eyeball-to-eyeball with Hamas's principal partner across the Iranian border with Iraq and in the Gulf, and c) engaging Tehran diplomatically (so far) through European proxies and building an international consensus to excise Tehran's nuclear program "by any means necessary."
Point c) is exactly what the Hamas/Hisbollah offensive against Israel is about. The Iranians are trying to split the Arab world and the West along confessional lines, Islam against the world -- Osama's hoped-for world war, IOW -- in order to relieve the Iranian mullahs' acute and deepening political isolation.
Still spouting your idiocy I see. What a pack of lies.
When has Saudi Arabia EVER before criticised Hezbollah? Naturally the answer is NEVER particularly when it was attacking Israel.
This is a good thing so stop pretending it is not.
You can't tell the difference anyway.
You sure seem to be active here all of a sudden. Why? Did your favorite forum, oh, I dunno, maybe get shut down at its source? :-D
