Hate cleric allowed into UK

By GEORGE PASCOE-WATSON
Political Editor

A RADICAL Muslim cleric who claims Britain DESERVES suicide bombings has been allowed in the country by ministers.

The Foreign Office gave twisted Delwar Hossain Sayeedi a visa saying he “does not meet the criteria for refusal”.

And today he will join an East London rally with Respect MP George Galloway.

After the invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, Sayeedi said: “Britain and America deserve all that is coming to them.”

He has also declared: “So what if the Taliban is destroyed? The war against America will continue.”

He has stoked up violence on previous visits to Britain. Five Bengali elders were beaten up in Oldham, allegedly by his followers.

Yet the Foreign Office refused to keep him out. And Mockbul Ali, the Foreign Office’s Islamic issues adviser, says his radical views SHOULD be heard.

Last night Shadow Home Secretary David Davis said: “This totally undermines Tony Blair’s claims to be tough on those who incite terror and hatred.”

Sayeedi’s speeches have also inflamed violence worldwide. One is thought to have led indirectly to a bomb attack against the British High Commissioner in Bangladesh.

Another could have led to the stabbing of moderate Bangladeshi author Humayun Azad in February 2004. He died six months later.

He has also made statements calling for war against Britain and the US. Leaked emails show other Foreign Office advisers warning against him coming.

One, Eric Taylor, wrote: “Sayeedi has made a particularly offensive comment about Bangladeshi Hindus, comparing them to excrement. Previous visits to the UK have been reportedly marred by violence caused by his supporters.”

But Ali — whose salary is met by UK taxpayers — warned refusing his visa could backfire.

He wrote: “He is someone who has a very big following in the mainstream British Bangladeshi Muslim community and is viewed as a mainstream Muslim.

“Any steps taken on his exclusion from the UK must take that into account.”

Sayeedi is set to take part in the launch of a social housing project for Bangladesh in East London. He is also expected to visit the huge East London Mosque during his stay.

Why give him martyr status? He would love that!

People like Galloway fear being ignored.

Difficult to say who Galloway despises more: Jews, the U.S., or (non-Islamist) England.

I seem to recall that his wife is a politically-active Islamofascist sympathizer as well.  His entire life is immersed in a seething hatred for Great Britain and the West, and his elected position gives him a voice and gives him legitimacy (to some).  Unfortunately his statements and positions are a reflection upon Great Britain yet he is in a 'safe' district that just loves this Anglo pushing their cause.... it's sort of analogous to the Klan finding an utterly insane black politician who will fervently plead their cause and support their agenda,

"Why give him martyr status? He would love that! "

The laws should be enforced regardless of the issue of creating a martyr. If he's in prison, he won't have the bully pulpit to push his treason.

When will the British ever learn?

Perhaps when they're all living under Sharia law and their women are all wearing burkas. Perhaps not even then.

Why isn't Ward Churchill in prison then? Maybe it's for the same reason...

I also get the feeling Mr. Galloway despises himself as well. Scratch an ultra liberal, and you find an inordinate amount of guilt and self-loathing.

We have different laws AND Ward (he doesn't deserve that last name) isn't a member of a government.

Not unlike Jim McDermott here in Seattle. ....though "Baghdad" is a congresscritter, not a big city mayor.

I doubt it will be all that long now.

Well neither of the countries seem to be bothered then do they? Also, Galloway isn't a member of any Government so I'm not sure what you mean by that.

He's a balloon.

Galloway is many things, but he is not an Anglo.

An entirely appropriate and relevant quote, thank you.

Galloway is MP for Bethnal Green & Bow, so yes, he is a "member of Government".

The same could be said of Cherie Blair....

Let us not forget that in his Big Bruv appearance, Galloway also famously got down on all fours and drank milk from a bowl like a cat. He thinks that Great Britain is a joke and therefore he thinks nothing of the stature and respect that he of all people should afford his elected position. He thinks nothing of soiling the stature of his office with his antics because be believes that Great Britain has no stature worth upholding.

Government governs. Galloway governs no-one. The Executive is the Government.

"Government governs. Galloway governs no-one. The Executive is the Government."

Interesting perspective. Is the US Senate and House not part of "the government"?

I am not familiar with the specifics of US lawmakers. Maybe Senators etc govern but MP's do not.

Two short pieces of rope and two nice tall trees are all the reception necessary for Sayeedi and his Saddamite lover Galloway.

Let 'em swing until sunset, then cut down the bodies for the buzzards.

With complimentary Zantac appetizers and Pepto Bismol chasers for the buzzards, of course.

I am grateful that you have an appropriate level of sympathy for the comparatively far more honorable and virtuous buzzards.
