Iran warned its arch-enemy Israel Sunday of unimaginable losses if it attacks Syria adding that the Islamic republic was standing by the Syrian people.
We hope the Zionist regime does not make the mistake of attacking Syria, because extending the front would definitely make the Zionist regime face unimaginable losses, foreign ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told reporters.
Iran is standing by the Syrian people, he added.
We have offered and will offer Syria and Lebanon spiritual and humanitarian support, Asefi said, reiterating Irans denial that it is providing military and financial assistance to the Hezbollah movement.
He also hit out at the United States after President George W. Bush said Israel had every right to defend itself.
The United States has had a destructive role by vetoing resolutions and hence encouraging the Israeli crimes, Asefi said, referring to Washingtons use of its veto in the UN Security Council Thursday to block a resolution calling for a halt to an Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip.
The United States should reconsider its policies and correct its wrong attitude of supporting the Zionist regime.
Not if it's in response to radicals taking over in Saudi. Not only would we would be stabilizing the market for oil, rather than using it as a weapon, but we would be choking off the primary money source for international terrorist operations.
Ooh...I bet Israel is shaking in their boots now...

BOY SCOUTS MOTTO
So the existence of Syria is all that keeps Israel from "unimaginable losses"? I don't see what Iran can do.
A few strategically placed neutron bombs would do the job quite nicely.
Inaction has consequences, I would have thought you would have learned that from 9/11.
evil people,evil deeds.
US has three carrier groups ready to go, Shiite - head.

And very professionally.
Exactly my FRiend. The rebuilding and prosperity of Hiroshima and Nagasaki puts the lie to the BS in "On The Beach", if our wayward nuclear-scaredy-cat wants to read a book that is far more rooted in fact, they should check out "Alas Babylon" by Pat Frank.
As for the winds and how it would affect the local Arab population, this might be a major economic opportunity for some entreprenuerial type to sell bumper stickers for camels that say "I Glow For Allah".
"They can't express their outrage anymore than they do now."
True.
Are we willing to go to nuclear war to support Israel?
Yes, absolutely YES!!!!!!!!
What kind of nation do you think we are that we'd dump a friend in need? What kind of messsage would we be giving to the world?
The ramifications of deserting a friend under threat of death are far greater than defending against an atomic Iran. Don't think for a minute that an Iranian nuke attack on Israel would end in Israel.
Crank up the gas powered generators and watch the show on CNN on satellite TV?
I agree with epow. FR gets to be a bit bland otherwise.
