ummm...
Saudi Arabia has weighed in on this, firmly on our side.

Yes, I'm aware of this. But the impetus behind Iran (specifically) seems to be this whole "12th Imam" or "12th Mahdi" or whatever.

Doing something to demonstrate in NO uncertain terms that "Allah" is not in control, might do a lot to deflate the Supreme Council and their pet monkey-boy.

The problem is that the Wahabi sect seems to have started in the Kingdom of Saud; add to that the circumstance that the Saudis are funding Wahabi traning schools throughout the rest of the world, makes me wonder about how "true" their friendship really is.

Cheers!

Without the Wahhabis, the House of Saud as we know it today, along with the country itself, would not exist. It was the Wahabbi ferocity, aligned with the Saud intelligence, that unified the disparate warring tribes.

Asking for SA to vanish the Wahabbi sect in the near term would be like asking us to vanish the Democrats, highly attractive, but not very realistic.

Iran is in for some unpleasant surprises if they interfere. If they interfere successfully, the surprises will be highly unpleasant. If they interfere unsuccessfully, then they will realize that they purchased an expensive pig in a poke, and the whole world will then know what IAs GWB was reading when he reincarnated star wars.
