Bush backs Israel as G8 leaders struggle for Mideast response

SAINT PETERSBURG (AFP) - World leaders have labored to forge a united response to the raging Middle East crisis as US President George W. Bush defended Israel and blamed militants backed by Iran and Syria.

Amid talks dominated by Israel's devastating offensives in Lebanon and Gaza, leaders of the select Group of Eight (G8) major industrialized countries pledged steps Sunday to address energy security, infectious disease and other global worries.

But there were few signs that G8 leaders were rallying behind a US push for a tough statement identifying the root cause of the Mideast violence as the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah and its allies Iran and Syria.

I just heard Chris Dodd blame President Bush for this crisis because he wasn't as 'engaged' in the ME as Clinton was.

The insanity of the left has reached epic proportions.

If I didn't hear that with my own ears, I would have accused someone of lying if they repeated it.

The world's literally gone mad...
