Could you ping me when you post the transcript? I have to be away for a bit and typically just jump to my pings and the end of a thread.

From Nasrallah’s Speech - 7/16

July 16th, 2006 by Administrator

6:41 PM: More highlights: (According to Channel 2’s analysts, this is not a “normal” Nasrallah speech.)

Channel 2 is currently showing and simultaneously translating Nasrallah’s broadcast. Highlights:

“All that Israel has hit has been civilian targets. We have only hit military targets.”
“We had no choice but to bomb Haifa.”
“We will do whatever it takes to protect and defend our people.”
“The world now understands what’s happening in Lebanon.”
“Our fighters are prepared to fight.”
“We are awaiting an attack by tanks and troops.”
“We showed how he can surprise, and we came through with our surprises.”
“We are planning to rebuild what has been and what will be destroyed.”
“It’s possible to hang a lot of hope on the Lebanese people.”
“Rumors that an Egyptian ship sank is all part of the Zionist lies.”
“There are no Iranian soldiers helping Hezbollah. They are all Lebanese.”
“We are not asking for any-one to come and assist us. We don’t need any help. We’re fine. We’re doing fine. We inflict injury only with the hand and by the help of Allah.”
“Foreign Ministers of the Arab world have admitted that they’re helpless.”
“Today, the Arab has a chance to unite [against the Zionists].”
“We are the arrow-head.”
“We are giving the example of how to defeat the enemy.”
“This is a battle of the entire Arab nation, not just Lebanon.”

Was his solution, "If Israel will get out of occupied terrority, everything thing will be fine"?

What "occupied terrority" was he talking about, the state of ISRAEL proper?

He spoke directly to the camera at some point.

It seems to me he is deeply worried.

Perhaps the Syrians are having second thoughts about that pact with Iran.

He looks very, very concerned.

He should be. Notice who have been fairly silent about what is going on?

Jordan. Egypt. Saudi Arabia.

Which means Syria unleashed Hizbollah but that did not provoke the pan-Arab response Syria hoped for. Now, if Hizbollah keeps it up, Israel will eventual target Syria. With all its might.

The IDF on Sunday mobilized a reserve infantry division in preparation for a possible ground incursion into south Lebanon, The Jerusalem Post has learned. The move was intended as the beginning of a new effort to push Katyusha rocket launching cells away from the Israel-Lebanon border.

The division was setting up command posts along the northern border, while tanks and armored personnel carriers were being transported northward.

A senior IAF officer revealed to the Post on Sunday afternoon that the IDF was using bunker-buster bombs to strike at senior Hizbullah officials in hiding throughout Beirut and Lebanon. According to the officer, several of the bunker hideouts were hidden under civilian parking lots.

The officer also said that the air force had encountered some resistance, including the firing of anti-aircraft shells at IAF aircraft.

There are also reports that Al-Jazeera transmission signals are being used as targeting aids.

Al-Jazeera Arab Network News Team Detained in Haifa

18:15 Jul 16, '06 / 20 Tammuz 5766

(IsraelNN.com) A news team from the Al-Jazeera Arab news network was detained on Sunday after broadcasting specific information against military censorship regulations.

The network’s Israel correspondent, Elias Karram, was part of the team that was detained after broadcasting the attack live from an observation point near the scene.

Media have been forbidden to convey specific information about the location of landing sites of rockets fired by Hizbullah in order not to inadvertently assist the terrorist group to refine its aiming at Israeli targets.

Until now, the Arab news network, which has reported from Israel for years, has accepted the security regulations. On Sunday, the news team was warned against broadcasting again without censorship.

Remember that obnoxious Tad DeVane, for the Kerry Campaign? Usually when he was on Fox, Matt Dowd was the foil. He was the top campaign strategist, I believe. He was the bald guy not in the studio.

Lockhart? He is the one who was in on the faux NG document used by Rather to smear the President of the US.

I will certainly give him a piece of my "valuable input".

I have to be away for a bit and typically just jump to my pings and the end of a thread.

I have an odd relationship with pings. Sometimes I don't check because I figure, if no one pings me, no on thinks I have anything interesting to say/likes me. However, people might think I don't care so then I feel bad.

So then I check my pings, I feel I must respond to everyone who pinged me, then they respond, then it becomes a never-ending loop!

So I don't know what to do. Oldtimer Freeper advice would be appreciated. LOL

In addition, wouldn't Assad, the socialist, Baathist, secularist suspect any presence of Iran military and political operatives in his country to be a potential threat to his own regime?

I think you've missed quite a bit of history here. For starters, Assad's not a Baathist, but an Alawite, a minor Islamic sect despised as deviants by both Sunni and Shia. Khomeini, ever the pragmatist, came to the aid of Bashir's father when his legitimacy as a Muslim and his somewhat secular values were questioned. Khomeni had the mullahs declare the Alawites legitimate members of the Shi'ite faith. In return, Syria helped Khomeini train terrorists in Lebanon, became the re-supply route for same, and regularly supplied Syrian passports to Khomeni's minions.

Nothing's changed since Bashar succeeded his father, except perhaps that the son is not very strong-willed (his father was a ruthless tyrant), and is more or less an Iranian sock puppet.

A marriage made in hell, in spite of the wishful thinking of our DOS and the NYT.

I haven't read all the posts here. Has anyone discussed what the "Beltway Boys" were talking about on FNC last night? That President Bush might invoke war powers and bomb all of Iran's nuclear sites as a going away present before he leaves office?

Will do. I'm not sure how long it takes for them to put it up, but I'll keep checking.
