Philadelphia - Bomb sniffing dogs guarding the entrance set a somber mood, as two former terrorists shared stories from their former lives and described their own awakenings at the Seaport Museum yesterday.
"Just like an ex-drug addict who wants to rehabilitate others, you have to fight the drug and the pushers," said one of the ex-terrorists, Walid Shoebat, in an interview. "Pushers in mosques are pushing kids into jihad."
The effects of terrorism were tangible at the event, as one of the ex-terrorists scheduled to speak, Ibrahim Abdallah, did not attend in the wake of threats made on his family. A video of a speech Abdallah made last year in Princeton was played in his absence.
"The enemies we face have very long memories and have very long arms," explained Gordon Cucullu, an organizer of the event. "They threatened to come kidnap [Abdallah's] kids."
In his introductory remarks, Cucullu cautioned the audience that what they heard might keep them up at night, while warning of terrorists already operating on American soil.
"I don't think we have the luxury of not knowing our enemy," he said. "If anybody here is going to be offended by the truth, you've got about 60 seconds to make it to the door. You're going to hear from people who were ready to strap on a bomb ... and kill innocent people." He added: "I don't want to worry about my grandkids, and their kids, fighting these same guys."
Zak Anani, a native of Lebanon who joined an Islamic militia at the age of 13, described his ascension in the terrorist world with an almost stoic indifference.
The son and grandson of Islamic clerics, Anani described the basic training that led to his first kill, an incident he brushed over quickly in his speech. When recalling the first time he saw Islamic militants, he said, "I wanted to be a warrior like them."
In another story he shared, Anani said a colleague would continually wake him at 3 a.m. for morning prayers. When he asked not to be woken, and received the same wakeup call the next morning, he shot his colleague from the other side of a door.
He described his life as a terrorist as lacking any meaning (like many reformed terrorists, he converted to Christianity), and he said several attempts have been made on his life since his defection from Islam.
In one attempt, two men came up from behind and attempted to behead him, cutting him so deep that he was clinically dead for seven minutes.
Abdallah, a Michigan native who was radicalized in Israel, emphasized in his screened speech the prominent role that hatred of Jews played in his dedication to terrorism. "I was indoctrinated, first and foremost, to hate the Jew," he said. "Anything I could do to be a part of hurting the Jewish state, I was eager to do." Today, Abdallah believes differently. "When you believe what I believe, we're all God's people," he said. "How can I hate these people?" Abdallah also stressed the problems posed by Islamic religious texts, which he said, "breeds hatred." He continually mentioned how Jews are referred to as enemies in the Quran. Abdallah also converted to Christianity, after what he described as three years of comparative religious research.
Both Shoebat, the most prominent of the former terrorists, and Cucullu described Islamic terrorism as unique.
"We're not fighting terror," Cucullu said. "Terror is a tactic. What we're fighting is an enemy ... that is not interesting in gaining any ... advantage. What they're interested in is the complete destruction of anyone outside their group."
"one of the ex-terrorists, Walid Shoebat"
I'm fairly sure that I heard this guy on KKLA 99.5FM (the big Christian talk
radio station in Los Angeles) a couple of years ago. Pretty interesting path he's traveled.
Basically, he said, don't give an inch. They only see that as weakness and them winning. These guys are implacable. If you give an inch, they'll be fighting you in your county!
Kill them or convert them away from Islam. There is no other long term solution.
That's what I learned too ...
A great story. I don't think this was in the Inky.
Jesus loves me. mohamet wants me dead.
Not much of a choice is it.

"don't give an inch"
No one can deny that after what we've been seeing on the news ....what the Jews gave up counted for nothing. Maybe that was the point...
Here's an old interview with them that'll open some eyes. Dearborn is a great danger to America.
BUMP !!!! Great Video Clip !!!
