JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia (AFP) - Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah has held talks with Iran's top national security official Ali Larijani, expected to focus on the conflict in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories.
Larijani delivered a letter from Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad to King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, the SPA official news agency said, without disclosing its content.
Iranian state television earlier reported that Larijani would discuss "bilateral relations and regional developments, especially the situation in Palestine and Lebanon" with Saudi officials.
Iran is a major backer of Lebanon's Shiite Muslim Hezbollah movement and the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
A Saudi official this week indirectly accused Hezbollah of provoking Israel's onslaught on Lebanon, accusing certain elements of "adventurism" that put all Arab nations at risk.
"Join the cause of Iran or expect your Arab street to revolt!"?
Ah yes, the same Larijani that is rotating chair of the Security council?
I wish all Arab nations were truly at risk. Their governments all need to shape up or be destroyed/replaced.
Saudi Arabia hates and doesn't trust Iran at all.
SA will stay out this. If we're lucky we may see both Syria and Iran change governments.
