On Sunday, July 16th at 11:00am, AMCHA the Coalition for Jewish Concerns will be holding a demonstration/ memorial in front of the Syrian Mission to the UN, 820 Second Ave. (between 43rd and 44th Streets), in Manhattan.
Participants will first gather in front of the Syrian Mission to protest against Syria and Iran, the states that are directly responsible for Hamas and Hizbullah.
From there, participants will walk to the Israeli Mission, 800 Second Avenue, where we will host a memorial service for the fallen Israeli soldiers, and offer prayers both for the continued safety of the Israeli soldiers fighting the war against terror, and the safe return of the kidnapped Israeli soldiers.
I'll be with them in spirit.
You gotta know the leaders of Syria and Iran don't truely give a damn what the good folk of N.Y. think about anything.
If Syria or Iran had a nuclear tipped ICBM, New York would be their first target. Next would be Tel Aviv. Then London and next Paris. Why is the world letting them buy time so they can have that capability?
If these barbarians are willing to send baby girls strapped with bomb belts to kill innocent people, they are willing to send nuke tipped ICBMs in to kill innocent populations. What's the difference?
It is time to cut the heads off these snakes.
Yes, but since 9-11 there has been a small shift to the right in NYC politics. This is an interesting protest, one that I have not seen in two or three decades. A noticable shift to the right can mean NY goes GOP in '08. Iran and Syria must know that a continuation of the Bush Doctrine in the next Presidency means certain defeat of their best-laid plans.
It is time to cut the heads off these snakes.
That would be Meccacca and Muuuhhdemona!
Time to burn is-Slime on the trash heap of history!!!! Before is-Slime burns the entire world!
Here's one on Sunday.
It's interesting that you should say that. I haven't noticed it, to tell the truth. The borough president of Brooklyn gave a formal welcome ceremonony for Cindy Sheehan. My state senator wants George Bush to be impeached and removed from office immediately. My local neighborhood newspaper blamed President Bush for the NY Times' printing of national security secrets - said it was because Bush has such an untrustworthy reputation that newspapers feel they have to publish EVERYTHING the Administration does. My Congresswoman idolizes John Murtha and runs on all the moveon.org talking points. Hillary Clinton and Eliot Spitzer are considered to be shoo-ins for Senator and Governor, respectively. With all that said, if there is indeed a slight move to the right, then that is encouraging.
I hold out that people in NY and NJ will one day GET IT--until that day I will pretend people are getting it.
Good response.
Not sure N.Y will go right by watching how pathetic N.J. has been since 9-11. There were many from there involved too.
It is not enough of a shift to win those two elections, probably. But don't let anyone say, "Okay, you conservatives had your chance, and we lost." These shifts are massive and slow-moving. It's important to do the kind of mind-changing work (we hope) we do on FR and elsewhere, not just work for this or that candidate.
Well? You Going??
You refer to politicians (spit) and the enemedia (double spit) as reasons you don't believe there has been a shift to the right. I would venture to say that there are far more voters in NY than politicians and enemediots.
In 2000 NY went to albore by 24.98%. In 2004 it went to the loser by only 17.27%. That represents a loss of 7.71%.
In 200 NJ went to the loser by 15.83%. In 2004 it went to the loser by only 6.17%. Representing a loss of 9.66%.
I won't even take into account the blatant ramping up of voter fraud the losers attempted. There is a swing, even if it is not as far as we would hope.
I wish I could be there. God Speed.
Be there or be square!!
The protest was led by Rabbi Avi Weiss, and Congressmen Engel and Weiner showed up and spoke. We started out in front of the building that holds the Iranian and Syrian consulates, and marched down to stand opposite the building that houses the Israeli consulate. Lots of good chanting and songs. I'm learning the Hebrew chants. Closed with our national anthem.
Tomorrow's---across from the UN at 42nd and First, at 12 noon---will be huge. The group that is holding it encompasses 51 or 52 major American Jewish organizations. There's a rumor that our senators may show up.
