To: Eric in the Ozarks

Oh my God, are you from Texas? Did you get my grandmother's and mother's recipe?

It this good or what?!

I wish I had gotten or saved my grandmother's recipe for her Thanksgiving and Christmas cornbread stuffing. I've never had it's equal.

One of my cousins was saying how he could never get the green beans to taste as good as his mother's green beans did and his sister told him that their mom always added some bacon grease.

How did our parents and grandparents live as long as they did with all that bacon grease?

That's part of the mystery. We always cook up four or five slices of bacon, then cube a Hormel Cure 81 or other good ham, chop up one big onion and add those into the four pounds of g. beans after they're cooked in a pot. I cheat on the little 'taters. They come in little cans.
