They already returned to their old habit in kidnapping the two Israeli soldiers last weeks. Yes, wars have begun over such small affronts. Hezbollah calculated Israel would not want to open up a second front when they made their move and it would also create leverage for their Hamas ally. Instead, it enraged Israel and put Hezbollah competely on the defensive. The Hezbullies will certainly try to take hostages for the insurance value and for now they'll just sit and take it before they resume full scale guerilla warfare - a calculation made out of the belief Israel plans a prolonged occupation of Lebanese territory. The unknowns in this war are how Israel will crush Hezbollah decisively and if so whether Israel can avoid in the process becoming trapped into Lebanese quaqmire. Those are the questions to which no one still has answers and we ought to have a better picture soon. Such is the nature of war.
(Go Israel, Go! Slap Down Em Hezbullies!)
I don't believe Israel is planning to do anything in a prolonged manner. I think that they are well aware that this is their chance to get it done once and for all and eliminate the threat.
They have already done the hard part and engaged, now they just have to stay engaged until finished...
The next two-three days are critical.
