The U.S. State Dept is doing a GREAT JOB of keeping things secret from those of us who are stranded here. We would like a litte more transparency, or at least a definitive answer that they actually are going to get us out. Precise timing is one thing but silence is another.
The US State Department said it was working with the Defence Department on a plan to transport Americans to Cyprus, from where it recommended they return to the United States by commercial airlines.
The State Department estimates that about 25,000 US citizens, including people with dual citizenship, live in Lebanon, although summer visits could expand that community.
"There are quite a number of Americans in Lebanon because, as you know, we have quite a big American-Lebanese community and many are there for the summer," US Assistant Secretary of State David Welch told CNN from Tripoli, Libya.
hang in there rebel...I have faith that the US wants you out, and the Israelis don't want you hurt...we're praying for you and look forward to seeing you back here..

1. Stockpile Clorox, 5.5% sodium hypochlorite, no perfumes or additives, use to purify water, 8 drops per gallon for clear water, 16 for cloudy. Expect and prepare for the runs.
2. Locate hardened shelter, underground, the more concrete the better.
3. Lay low, some members of the public will be angry.
4. Depend on no-one other than yourself for survival, assume nothing, see to your basic needs first, leave luxuries for later.
5. Prepare defenses, do not sit with your back to a door. Any mobs will be looking for easy targets, make them work to get at you and they will look elsewhere. Physical work, make them sweat.
6. Establish a secure channel to the US Embassy that does not depend on electircal grids for operation. Plan to lose electricity for an indeterminate time.
Some of these things may be beyond your reach. Do the best you can, make a plan, and execute it. Remain flexible, but remember to keep basic needs high on the priority list. you can survive weeks without food, but any electrical failures will cause pumps to cease operation, no water, no gasoline. Lack of drinking water will seriously impair your abilities as soon as 72 hours after your last drink. Assume all water to be contaminated. Contaminated water poses less risk than no water at all.
Hang tough, our people seem highly confident that they can get you out, but better to cover your own bases and treat evacuation like a bonus.
Pass the word.
