I feel the same as you do..I'm very afraid. I also heard that we have 25K Americans living in and around Beirut. Needless to say, they are trapped and "on their own". Roads are bombed, runways bombed and they have no way out The State Dept is working on a plan to float some ships in to rescue them but they in big trouble until they can flee.

The country is ruled though by a quasi-Shiite sect known as Alawites. They come from the Mediterranean region around Latakia and account for 15% of Syria's population.
