You're missing the point. The smokers ARE outside. How they git there is irrelevant. The fact that they can't be troubled to move away from a high-traffic area makes it seem like they don't give a f-ck, and leaves a lot of non-smokers feeling pretty resentful.
I think a lot of this animosity toward smokers, especially those who congregate near the office doorways is due to the non-smoker's jealousy of what they feel are unnecessary breaks from "work" and, as a consequence, they feel justified in their mean-spititedness.
No presidio9, you are missing the point.........the reason the smokers are outside is THE relevant point. YOU helped put them there. Non-smokers have no right to be resentful, they caused the problem. If you have a problem with it, work to change the situation, and chasing the smokers even further away is NOT a solution, that will only work to put a deeper divide between the smokers and non-smokers. And play right into the hands of the anti-smoker control freak nanny-staters.
