Plame Says Government Betrayed Her Trust
Associated Press ^ | July 14, 2006 | Toni Locy

Posted on 07/14/2006 7:50:16 AM PDT by PDR

Former CIA officer Valerie Plame and her husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, said Friday they decided to sue Vice President Dick Cheney and presidential adviser Karl Rove because they engaged in a "whispering campaign" to destroy her career.

Plame told at a news conference she trusted the government to protect her and that the government "betrayed that trust. I'd much rather be continuing my career as a public servant than as a plaintiff in a lawsuit."

Wilson said his trip to Niger showed that Iraq wasn't trying to purchase uranium.

Never mind that he's a proven liar and told Congress privately that his trip showed that Iraq WAS trying to purchase uranium.

The left and truth are like kryptomite. They can't exist in the same room.

I can't wait to see who's paying for the lawsuit.

They already announced a donation legal defense fund (and associated web site) to pay for it.

In today's NYTimes article:

The lawsuit says the officials’ actions have led to “gross invasions of privacy” for the Wilsons and caused them to fear for their children’s safety because Ms. Wilson is now a target for those who hate the United States. The suit says the officials violated the couple’s right to privacy, freedom of speech and equal protection of the laws.

Are you kidding me? They are the pride and joy of those who hate the United States.  My God, talk about living in another reality.

She used her position to send her husband on a mission to come up with a phony story to discredit the administration. It has been proven to be a lie. They are liars trying to undermine their own nation's national security - her career should have been over, and they should both be in jail.

First of all, I don't believe this for one second. Secondly, as a member of the public, I'm glad she's gone. She's incompetent and she's wasted enough of the taxpayers' money.

If I understand the situation they were acting to undermine the credibility of the Bush, the very thing their suit alleges the Bush admin did to them.

I noticed that they do not mention the word "Covert" in the suit they use "classified." This would be an admission that she is not covert, which would be a criminal issue. That resolves one of the issues.

This is, of course, attempted Democratic payback for Clinton and Lewinski. I wonder if the Clintons are somewhere far backstage in the darkness whispering the lines? Discovery should be interesting if they are foolish enough to proceed.

I can't wait to see who's paying for the lawsuit. Follow the money.

They've opened a 'fund'. I'm trying to get a link to it.

Wilson is an opportunist. They were looking for a book deal and got one. Next - a movie deal.

They know this is a lawsuit they can't possibly win. Discovery is going to be quite interesting!

So typical. Why can't libs pay for anything themselves? Wouldn't want him to have to sell his rolex or anything.
