Peretz says Israel intends to 'break' Hizbullah
Jerusalem Post ^ | 7/13/06

Posted on 07/13/2006 8:57:19 PM PDT by LibWhacker

Defense Minister Amir Peretz said Thursday night that, "We expected Hizbullah to break the rules, and now we intend to break them.

"We do not mean for this event to end when the situation returns to how things were a few days ago," he said.

Peretz's comments came before his meeting with Assistant Secretary of State David Welch.

Our propping up of fascist Israel has made us a target. We need to quit supporting them and let the Arabs and Jews settle things between themselves like they have been for the last 3K years or so.

Shall we start taking sides in religious wars? I'm sure the Brits would be glad to hand the Irish problem over to us.

As to your list, let's see:
We were one of the last countries to ban slavery.
We support fascist governments.
The National Socialist idea of government seems to be awfully close to what we have here today.
Last I looked , the Communists (even if they do not call themselves that anymore) still have control of more of the world than we do.
Japanese Imperialism , there would have been no war with Japan if we had not tried to confine them to their islands. And when they did attack us, we just held them back and threw all our effort into the European war, which shows what our government was thinking.

Quit believing our governments propaganda. We are a police state, the powers and authority granted the Law Enforcement agencies these days are worse then what caused us to seek independence in the first place. Go look up which country has by far the highest percentage of its people locked up, it ain't Russia.

Our propping up of fascist Israel has made us a target.

Anyone who has actually watched the events of the last few decades would laugh at such a statement. The far more common case is that Israel sits there like a marshmallow getting poked at and doing next to nothing while Washington sternly warns it to keep sitting there. It might snipe down a terrorist or two if it's lucky. Then once in a blue moon like now Israel undertakes a really energetic action, and the whole liberal world is simply appalled.

All Israel's "fascism" would vanish overnight if the Arab resolve to shove it into the sea also vanished.

So you will not respond to my comments but stay on your soapbox. OK - you are certainly entitled to your opinions. I've been to Israel too, and there is a lot I don't like about it, but it is not an enemy of civilization, and the current leadership of Iran is. That is why Israel having nuclear weapons does not bother me any more than the US having them. No that is not right. That is why I am real glad both the US and Israel do have them.

But they are striking out at us in response to our governments propping up of Israel.

This is just plain wrong. You think the Saudi Wahabis give a sh*t about Palestinians? Go research how much aid they provide to them.

You think the Indonesians that planted bombs in a night club in Bali or the Muslims that have killed 2,500 innocent civilians, a lot of them teachers and other low level civil servants in Thailand would stop if Israel ceased to exist? Do you really think that 9/11 would not have happened if the US was not a friend of Israel's? I won't accept and answer of 'yes' - I will assume you are just baiting us - no FReeper could be that detached from reality.

I have served in that area of the world, our government is not going to let the public see Israel as it really is.

Stop and think for a moment about what Israel is doing right now. Ask anyone knowledgeable of military operations and logistics how long it would take to run an operation like Israel is doing right now.

The only thing we have done right so far is getting our ship out of that port so it could not be a target. Any bets on weather or not Israel would fake an Arab attack on it to sway opinion? I have personal experience with them doing that sort of thing, and I am sorry to say, of our government helping them get away with it.

What Israel is doing right now is deliberately destroying the infrastructure of the surrounding areas. They are not going after terrorists, they are making the area unlivable for the people whose homes are there. All those people see are US made weapons being used against them, so do you think that might upset them towards us a bit? Israel wants to make the Arabs resent us.

Shall we talk about the USS Liberty?

I have no use for Israel, and even less for the Arabs (I lost my sister on 911 at the WTC). We need to step back and quit supporting either side and let them do like they have been doing throughout recorded history, fight each other.

Yes I believe 911 happened as a response to our support of Israel. If you think about the logic of it, you will see it also. This is a religious war, there is no upside for us in it. While I do not agree with Hitler's solution to the Jewish problem, a lot of what he said concerning their control of the financial institutions and such has a lot of truth in it.

Go on believing the "news" that has been spun this way and that by our government and the media. My opinion of our current situation here in the USA was best expressed by Gene Hackman and Will Smith in "Enemy of the State". Throw in some "1984" also, everywhere you go now is likely monitored by sound/video. The government no longer feels the need to even get warrants to spy on your communications. The Patriot Act basically removed most of the protections of the Bill of Rights. The "New World Order" is taking charge, they will tell you how and what to think and believe.

That does not work for me. My biggest regret in life is going to SE Asia for a second tour rather than joining my friends in the AIM. I am a decorated veteran, but can only say that I am no longer proud of my country or its actions.

Go to any Orthodox Jewish neighborhood and you can get all the extremist quotes you want. Every religion has its 2% of nut-cases. The vast majority of both Jews and Arabs could live together, but its the 2% that sell the newspapers and improve the Nielsens. Jews are at least "People of the Book", unlike a poor Pagan like me. Yet I was always well treated when in Arab countries, a lot better than I was treated in Israel.

Should a quote from a distinguished leader, like say Senator Clinton, be taken as gospel on the mood and thoughts of the American people? Or perhaps we should use Senator Kennedy? You are letting the words and actions of a few blind you to the will of the many.

I am still fairly fluent in Arabic and Farsi, so I read the Arab side of things also. Makes a change from the Israeli propaganda we are bombarded with here.

Sure, Islamfascism is all Israel's fault!

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1666064/posts

"This is a testimony to the fact that evil beliefs make humans commit unthinkable atrocities. Anwar Shaikh, the renowned anti Islamist admits that during the Partition, when he was young, he was so filled with hate that he went out with a machete and killed two innocent Sikhs, a father and a son and a Hindu. He did not know any of his victims. He killed them because they were the first non-Muslims he saw in the streets. The memory of his crime haunts him to this day. But the mind of a believer is like a mind on drugs. He is completely dehumanized."

My point is that it works both ways, each side has their 2% of nut cases.

I was in Israel last year, and watched a couple of self appointed Israeli vigilantes pulling Arabs out of vehicles and physically abusing them for no reason that I could see. When I was spotted filming them doing this, they came over and assaulted me, breaking my camera. 2 IDF officers who were nearby and with my party put a stop to it, but were unconcerned about the vigilantes beating Arabs up. I found this attitude very prevalent in Israel which is one of the reasons I have so little respect for them.

Yeah, well, you seem to have changed the point which yesterday was that Israelis want to wipe Muslims off the face of the earth in the same way Muslims do Jews, and the reason Muslims do is because of Israel, and if a country is not friends to Israel it has nothing to fear like 9/11 attacks from Islamofascists.

I repeat, that is nonsense. One example off the top of my head, but there are so many, just look at the riots in France recently. I suppose you think that violence against non-Muslim French and particulary French Jews was in protest to France's support (that is sarcasm) of Israel? Look at the story I posted (that you avoid commenting on) on the Indian Muslim who killed the first non-Muslims he came across. Look in the south of Thailand. Look in the Philippines, in Bali, in Africa! I suppose all those ethnic Chinese that were raped, tortured and lynched in Jakarta in 1998 are Israel's fault! I mean, geez, that is just so ridiculous. This is isn't 2% of Muslim crazies. It's more like 2% that aren't, not that are.

You ought to have a look at http://www.jihadwatch.org/ and learn about the teachings of Islam, and I don't mean just the scriptures like the Koran, but the way it is taught and practiced today.

Neither side seems willing to tolerate the other in their Holy Lands. Your Muslim killing non-Muslims is no different than the self appointed Israeli vigilantes I ran into. Throughout history, religion has been used to incite violence between peoples.

People with little or no education look to their religious leaders for guidance. So when the mullah/rabbi/priest points and says these people are bad/sinners/evil , these uneducated clods feel that God (through his representative) is telling them what they have to do. None of the people in any of the incidents you mentioned were exactly rocket scientists.

Racism is also a factor in several of the incidents you mentioned. Even here in the USA where discrimination is against the law it is very prevalent.

For the religious and racial reasons alone, the Arabs and Jews will never have a lasting peace in the Middle East. Goes back to what I have been saying all along, we need to stay out of this and let them kill each other off. Taking sides only adds us to the target list.

Many suicide bombers have been highly educated, including M.D's, but one remaining thing I want to explore with you.

You mention repeatedly that "These people have literally been fighting each other for THOUSANDS of years." Please post some sources, because here a quote from an extreme anti-Zionist website run by Jews who are opposed the creation of Israel, which I offer as proof that statement is nonsense.
http://www.cactus48.com/earlyhistory.html

"Before the 20th century, most Jews in Palestine belonged to old Yishuv, or community, that had settled more for religious than for political reasons. There was little if any conflict between them and the Arab population. Tensions began after the first Zionist settlers arrived in the 1880's...when [they] purchased land from absentee Arab owners, leading to dispossession of the peasants who had cultivated it." Don Peretz, "The Arab-Israeli Dispute."
I think you are confusing Christian-Muslim conflicts with Arab-Jewish ones!

BTW, this is my last post on this thread, so you get the last word.

How about in the Bible when Moses led the people out of Egypt, they were fighting then. It was a racial thing then, but became religious when Islam came along.

The extremist factor is more than an order of magnitude smaller among the "Jooz," PLUS this: among Muslims even most of the "moderate" ones wink-and-nod at the extremist jihads. Moderate Jews in Israel will much more likely tell you "no way if I can help it." Note too that the contemporary secular state of Israel has NEVER launched a war of adventure. Always, always, always it has been self defense.

And yet it is Israel who is trashing the Geneva accords, Amnesty International has quite a piece on that on their website.

This so-called reaction by Israel was obviously well planned for in advance. The prepositioning of men, equipment and logistics shows that this is a planned operation by Israel.

That said, they can keep killing each other off over there. Just that many less left on either side to cause us problems in the future. My concern is that Israel may have bitten off more than they can handle and are going to expect us to save them. Friends near Pope AFB have noticed a sudden major increase in C-5 and C-17 flights out of there. So we are likely already taking action that will just cause us more grief on down the line.

"Our propping up of fascist Israel has made us a target. We need to quit supporting them"

this is a bad idea on so many facets. especially Biblical.
calling Israel fascist is parallel with Ahamdinejad today referring to Israel's recent defensive actions as akin to hitler. & this from one whose goals & ideology are that of neo nazis ie desiring Israel's destruction & denying the holocaust.

Postal, are you in agreement with our mortal enemy the leader of Iran ? based on your post you sound like an anti semitic muslim or an isolationist aryan antisemite.
are you either ? how do you expect to be perceived after saying that of Israel ?

"Shall we start taking sides in religious wars?"

9/11 was religiously motivated. should we thus not have not have responded ?

"We were one of the last countries to ban slavery."

the holdouts are mostly muslim.
muslims continue to enslave Christians & other muslims on the African continent et al. we need to halt this, militarily if necessary. some middle eastern immigrants even do the same here in the States to smuggled young women whom they treat as animals & force into demeaning & degrading labor.

"Japanese Imperialism , there would have been no war with Japan if we had not tried to confine them to their islands."

confinement?
Japan was all over the place in the pacific. you do recall that theater of WW2 yes ?? their fear of American citizens with rifles was what kept them from invading the U.S. after Pearl Harbor. i spent the 1st few years of life in Japan as a military brat right after the war as part of our military occupation. one of our own Japanese aquaintences had said that if they had won the war, they would have enslaved the U.S..

"our governments propaganda." most of what i consider propaganda i hear from leftists/democrats, communist agitators ie international answer, cindy sheehan, et al who prefer defeatist suicidal pacifism over sound national defense & who also label our own country's proactive self defense as imperialist aggression. they also tend to treat Israel & the U.S.'s common enemies/aggressors as victims instead of the instigating islamofascist communists they are.

got to Protestwarrior.com & zombietime.com. check out Protest Warrior's videos of the communist "antiwar activists" carrying palestinian flags & their podium speaker calling opposition to specific communist & or muslim islamofascist insurgencies in south America, the Philipines et al "occupations". that is propaganda & it isn't coming from the Bush administration. it's coming from American communists/socialists who display their agitprop literature at Democrat rallies on the Washington mall. why do they show up when democrats do ??? why do democrat statements against the war parallel some of the same ideas that the communist organization international Answer is pubicly stating ?? or that our enemies in Iran, Iraq, N. Korea, Afghanistan, Hizbollah, Hamas, Al Jazeerah are copying ??

on zombietime.com find the picture of the democrat founder of Moveon.org and the socialist/marxist political activist sitting together as consultants to take questions at a Berkely political gathering. also the one of cindy sheehan speaking at a maoist communist org's public rally & being real chummy with the leader.

thus, who is really stating propaganda & who is our enemy ??
is it the Bush adminstration, or the democrats, their cohorts & the axis of evil ??

the Communists [snip] still have control of more of the world than we do"

an aggressive military buildup ended the cold war. if Russia is covertly waiting to revert to full blown communism again, this would not surprise me. it's just more motivation for military preparation, vigilance & tough no nonsense international policy.

"(even if they do not call themselves that anymore)"

no, now they show themselves to be leftist college professors, individuals in the American democrat leadership & many in the LSM, possibly some RINOs & definitely specific political orgs masquerading as anti war protestors.
